본 연구의 목적은 경주양동마을의 국내 관광 활성화 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 이루기 위해서 다음과 같이 구체적인 목표를 설정하였다. 첫째, 경주 양동마을의 역사와 현황을 정리하고자 하였다. 둘째, 안동하회마을의 현장 벤치마킹을 통해서 경주 양동마을의 운영방안을 비교분석하고 개선점을 찾아보고자 하였다. 셋째, 고택관련 선행연구를 통해서 고택관련 연구의 흐름을 파악하고 설문 문항을 도출하였다. 넷째, 경주 양동마을 관광객을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 경주 양동마을의 개선점을 찾고자 하였다. 하회마을 현장 벤치마킹을 통해서, 양동마을이 다양한 음식개발과 음식을 질을 높여야 한다는 것을 알게 되었고, 양동마을의 캐릭터 개발이 필요한 것과 양동마을에서만 체험할 수 있는 독특한 문화체험 프로그램을 개발해야 한다는 것을 알게 되었다. 또한, 주민들이 직접 참여하거나 주도할 수 있는 다양한 행사를 만들어야 한다는 것도 알게 되었다. 관광객의 설문조사를 통해서, 양동마을의 경관이 우수하다는 것을 다시 한 번 알게 되었고, 고택의 역사성에 대해서도 관광객의 관심이 많다는 것을 알게 되었다. 관광객의 평가 중에 다양한 음식, 음식의 가격, 음식의 질 등이 낮았다. 이러한 설문조사를 통해 다양한 음식 개발과 음식의 수준을 높이기 위해 노력해야 한다는 사실을 알게 되었다.

The purpose of this study is to propose a plan to revitalize domestic tourism in Gyeongju Yangdon Village. For this purpose, the following specific goals were established. First, the history and status of Gyeongju Yangdong Village was organized. Second, a management plan for Gyeongju Yangdong Village was comparatively analyzed by benchmarking Andong Hahoe Village and searched for possible improvements. Third, the trend of studies on historic houses was identified through previous studies related to historic houses and survey questions were derived. Fourth, improvements for Gyeongju Yangdong Village were found through a survey that targeted the visitors. By benchmarking Hahoe Village, we realized that there should be a variety of food developments and increase of food quality at Yangdong Village. Also, we found there should be a development of a character for Yangdong Village and a cultural experience program unique to Yangdong Village. In addition, there was also a need to create various events that the residents can directly participate or implement. Through the visitor survey, we again realized Yangdong Village has great sceneries and that the visitors had a lot of interest in the history of the historic houses. From the visitor evaluation, we found that low points were given for variety of food, food prices, food quality, etc. The survey showed us that there should be efforts to develop more varieties of foods and raise the standard of food.
