청소년 범죄 중, 학교폭력은 청소년들의 가치관 혼란으로 인한 충동적 행동, 자아 상실, 욕구불만 등의 개인적이고 심리적인 측면의 문제로부터 발생하게 되는 원인이 있지만, 이 외에도 어둡거나 사람들의 눈에 잘 띄지 않는 장소 등 주변의 물리적인 환경에 의해 우발적으로 저질러지기도 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 학교 주변의 폭력을 예방하기 위해 학교 주변에서 발생하는 청소년 범죄의 현황과 원인, 유형을 파악하고 실제 범죄율이 높은 지역의 교육시설을 선정하여 주변 물리적 환경의 현황을 조사하고 문제점을 파악하였으며, 환경 문제를 진단하는 체크리스트를 작성하였다. 이 체크리스트를 통하여 학교 주변의 범죄위험지역에 대한 문제요소를 파악하고, 이를 개선할 수 있는 방법을 찾고자 하였다. 그 결과 학교 주변 범죄위험지역을 크게 두 지역으로 분류하였으며, 문제 요소와 CPTED 적용 원리에 따라 총 20 개의 개선 방향 체크리스트를 만들었다. 이 체크리스트는 향후 교육시설 주변의 환경을 더욱 안전하게 설계하는 데 기초적 자료로 사용될 수 있을 것이며, 이는 교육시설 주변에서의 청소년 범죄 감소에 큰 기여를 할 것이다.

Occurrences of school violence inside and outside of the schools affect students psychologically. The cause of school violence may result to confusion of values, loss of ego, and frustrations. In addition, this school violence are caused by dark places, secluded areas and built environments such as places of entertainment. If students with psychological problems stay in these bad environments, various juvenile crimes such as physical violence, extorting money, excluding a person and sexual violence can occur. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop a checklist to evaluate the environmental design of educational facilities. The results are as follows: First, the current situations, causes, and types of various juvenile delinquencies were analyzed. Second, the dangerous areas showing high crime rates near the schools were surveyed. Third, a checklist was developed by checking the problems of dangerous areas in built environment. This study contributes to the fundamental data of environmental design to prevent crimes around the educational facilities.
