본 논문은 패션과 테크놀로지가 결합된 트랜스포밍 드레스에 주목한다. 트랜스포밍 드레스는 피지컬 컴퓨팅 기술을 기반으로 다양한 미디어 기술요소들이 결합되어 시각적 효과를 극대화할 수 있는 새로운 스타일을 추구한다. 트랜스포밍 드레스를 설계하고 제작하기 위해서는 다채로운 드레스의 변형 양태를 파악하고, 그것을 실현시켜주는 핵심적인 기술 요소가 제시되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 선행 연구 및 사례 분석을 통해 트랜스포밍드레스의 개념을 정립하고 기반 기술 요소를 체계적으로 분류/종합하는 작업을 진행하였다. 그리고 정리된 이론을 바탕으로 뮤지컬 투란 도트에 적용 가능한 트랜스포밍 드레스를 실제로 제작하였다.

This Paper focuses on the transforming dress that is a combination of a fashion and a technology. Transforming dress seeks a new style of fashion that could help to maximize visual effects using embedded media technologies. It is necessary to suggest main technical components for making the transforming dress, and to grasp many different transformations of dress. First of all, this paper created concept of transforming dress by a case analysis. Secondly, we categorized the technical components and the kinesthetic components used for the creation of transforming dress. Finally, we designed and produced the prototype of transforming dress for musical turandot with this theoretical index.
