어린이를 둘러싸고 있는 물리적 환경은 인위적 환경의 비중이 높은 현대사회에서 그 영향력이 커져가고 있으며 보육을 지원하는 환경 또한 최근 들어 더욱 다양해지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 보육을 지원하는 다양한 환경의 추이를 파악하고자 하는 것이다. 주된 연구방법은 문헌분석방법이며 부수적으로 각 현장 특성에 대한 이해를 돕기 위해 인터넷 자료 분석 및 현장 방문을 통해 최근 현장을 사례 조사를 하였다. 분석대상 보육 지원 환경으로 어린이집, 유치원, 어린이공원, 실내놀이터, 키즈 카페 및 어린이박물관을 다루었다. 사용연령, 접근수단, 이용 빈도를 기준으로 정리한 후 세부 기능으로 보호, 양육, 놀이, 교육, 문화 체험, 사회적 교류로 나누어 분석하였다. 분석결과 이들 환경은 거리와 빈도 등 공간적 위계를 지니고 있으며 다양한 세부 기능들을 복합적으로 수용하는 기능 복합화 현상을 보이고 있다. 또한, 환경이 특정 다수를 대상으로 체계적 프로그램을 제공하는 환경부터 불특정 다수를 대상으로 비체계적 프로그램을 제공하는 환경으로 확장하고 있으며, 친숙성을 중시하고 연령이 분리되어있던 환경에서 새롭고 연령대가 교류되는 환경으로 폭이 넓어져가고 있다. 본 연구 결과는 다양한 지역이 지닌 보육환경 자원들이 기술이 발달학적으로 적절히 이용할 수 있는 계획 기술이 필요한 시대에 왔음을 보여준다.

Recently physical environments around children in the age of more artificial world have become more influential than before. Child-care supportive environments have become The purpose of this study is to identify the trend of diverse environments that support the child-care. The major research method is literature analysis including data gathered through internet and field visit added in order to promote the understanding of the characteristics of the actual sites. The target objects are child-care center, kindergarten, children park, indoor playground, kid cafes and children`s museum. After analyzing the ages of the users, approaching means and frequencies of usages, six kinds of functions such as protection, care, play, education, cultural experiences and social interaction were used to compare them. The results of these analyses revealed that each environment carried spatially hierarchical characteristics in distance and use frequency and had diverse functions in detail showing a phenomenon of multi-functionalization. The environments are diversified from the environments with structured programs for specific children to the environments with loose programs for random users. Besides from facilities emphasizing on familiarity and age segregation have been expanded to ones with novelty and age integration.
