대학도서관을 방문하는 주목적 중 하나는 자율학습을 위한 일반열람실사용이다. 또한 열람실에 머무는 시간이 많기 때문에 열람실의 환경이 사용자의 프라이버시나 학습효율에 영향을 미친다. 이에 본 연구는 일반 열람실의 공간구성요소별 현황을 파악하고 만족도를 조사하여 향후 일반열람실 계획방향 및 기준을 제시하였다. 선행연구에서 8가지 실내공간 구성요소를 추출하고 이것을 기준으로 사례관의 현황을 조사 분석하였고, 각 요소에 관해 프라이버시, 학습효율 측면에서의 사용자 만족도를 조사했다. 사례관의 자유열람실 실내공간구성요소는 현재 제시되고 있는 기준에 적합했고 창의 면적은 기준에 미달했다. 그러나 사용자 만족도를 조사한 결과, 기준에 적합해도 만족도가 낮은 경우가 있었고, 기준에 부적합해도 만족도가 높은 경우가 있었다. 각 실내공간요소에 대한 만족도와 일반열람실에 대한 전체만족도의 상관성을 분석해본 결과 1좌석 면적, 창의 면적, 소음 처리, 책상 배치 간격 항목 만족도가 전체만족도와 상관성을 보였다. 따라서 이 4가지 항목을 개선시킨다면 전체 만족도를 향상시킬 수 있을 것이다.

The one of the main purpose of visiting a college library is to use the reading room for self-study. The environment of the reading room affects privacy for users and efficiency of study. Therefore, the paper suggested the direction and guideline for space design by examining the existing conditions of elements for space configuration and levels of satisfaction by users. The precedent study subtracted the eight elements for space configuration with which it analysed the existing conditions of the case libraries. It investigated the level of satisfaction of the elements in terms of privacy and efficiency. In case of the appropriation, all elements were appropriate for the guidelines while only the size of windows were not. But, in case of the satisfaction, even though the elements were appropriate for the guidelines, the levels of satisfaction were not high enough. As the result of analysis, the important elements for the satisfaction were the size of occupation for the one, the size of windows, the level of noise, and the distance between chairs. Through the improvement of design for those four items, the level of satisfaction could be raised.
