이에 본 연구의 목적은 영재교육기관 내 교육자들이 사용하는 사무관리 공간 및 교육지원공간의 실내 디자인 특성 파악하여 그 문제점을 제시하고 업무환경의 개선방향 제시를 통해 우리나라 영재교육기관 공간계획에 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 조사대상은 아동영재교육을 실시하는 시설로서 2000년 1월 이후 개원한 서울 및 지역의 크기가 연면적 200㎡ 이상으로 운영되는 5개의 본원을 대상으로 조사하여 그 개선책을 제시해 보았다. 첫째, 영재교육시설의 사무 관리공간을 살펴 본 결과 목적과 용도에 따른 원장실, 교사실, 상담 및 회의실 교재 및 자료실 등으로 공간을 구분 짓는 것이 바람직하겠다. 둘째, 가구와 조명은 편리성과 실용성을 강조한 붙박이 가구를 활용하는 것을 고려해야 하고 간접조명의 균일조명과 국부조명이 동시에 계획되어야 하겠다. 셋째, 마감과 색채를 살펴보면 디테일하고 다양한 마감재의 활용과 일의 능률을 높일 수 있는 다양한 색채들이 활용하여 심미성을 부여하고 다른 공간과의 차별성을 감소시켜 통일성을 부여하고 보다 활용성이 높은 공간의 계획이 고려된다.

The purpose of this study is to exam the characteristics of the office area in the institution for the gifted children. The research of the cases were 5 opened after year 2000 and areas were over 200㎡ and located in Seoul and Gyungi-do. The research results are as followed. The first, the working spaces of the institutions were not divided as their purpose. it should be divided into the director`s room, the teacher`s room, the meeting room and the material room. The second, the furnishing are concerned with conveniency and practicality by using of the millwork system. It is better to use the indirect ambient and spot light instead of using direct light. The third, the use of the various of materials are increased the efficacy of the work. The use of the various of colors which continuously practice from other spaces make better use of a space and decrease the differency.
