The purpose of this study is to establish the documentation system of voucher specimens of indigenous insects in Korean peninsula. Voucher specimens in this study are defined as biological specimens having the collection data, taxonomic information and correct scientific identification, which are preserved as the evidence of biological species in Korean peninsula. According to the report of the ministry of environment, 11,853 biological species were recorded in Korean peninsula until in 1996. According to the newly compiled national inventory of indigenous species of the Korean peninsula, 14,145 biological species were recorded until in 2012. Among them, 8,245 species were confirmed with information for voucher specimens and image data by National Institute of Biological Resources (NIBR) since 2008 untill 2013. All confirmed species information including collection, taxonomic and image data for each species was deposited as DB in national management system for biological resources in NIBR.
