니트 디자인에 있어서 기법과 조직의 원리를 충분히 이해하고 수많은 테스트를 통한 다양한 샘플 개발과 효율적인 적용은 특히 중요하다. 최근 주목받는 니트 디자이너들은 다른 패션·텍스타일 제작 기법들과는 차별화되는 니트만의 미적 특성을 부각시키기 위해 기초에 충실함과 동시에 틀에 박힌 기법의 표현 한계와 적용 영역에서 벗어나 자신만의 독특한 표현방식 개발에 주력하고 있다. 본 연구는 다양한 니트 기법들 중 입체적 효과를 위해 부분적으로 적용되던 ``파셜 니팅(partial knitting)``이 과거와는 달리 적용 범위가 확장되어 표현되고 있는 사례들을 표현 유형별로 분석하고, 향후 다양한 니트 기법들의 창의적인 응용 가능성을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 ``파셜 니팅``의 원리를 다양하게 해석하여 사용되고 있는 관련 용어들과 파셜 니팅 작업시 특이사항에 대해 고찰하였다. ``파셜 니팅``의 다양한 적용 사례들을 텍스추어와 구조, 패턴 등의 관점에서 분석하여 입체적 텍스추어, 원형적 구조, 방사형 패턴, 율동적 패턴 등 4가지의 대표적인 표현 유형별 특성들을 도출할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 기존기법들의 현대적 해석과 표현 가능성을 확인하고 기본 기법과 조직의 원리 이해가 고부가가치 디자인 전개에 중요한 요소임을 재확인할 수 있었다.
To understand the principles of knit techniques and structures is essential for development of knit design. Based on this, the various ways of sample tests and their efficient applications are important as well. Some outstanding knit designers have tried to experiment to show aesthetic differentiation of knit works from other fashion and textile products. At the same time, they have focused on the development of their own unique representation methods to the expansion of new areas from the bounds of conventional expression and application. The purpose of this study is to explore the creative possibilities of knit design development through the research and to analyze the formative characteristics of ‘partial knitting’ which is expanded and diversified from the way to apply partially for three-dimensional effects in the past. This research investigated various related terms which are interpreted the principles of ‘partial knitting’ in different ways and considered some unusual facts while partial knit works. Through researching ‘partial knitting’ in view of texture, structure and pattern, the researcher analyzed and subdivided about its expression types into 4 different categories which are three-dimensional texture, circular structure, radial pattern and rhythmical pattern. In this study, it could be confirmed potential for modern reinterpretation of conventional techniques and expression from fully understanding of the basic techniques and principles.
