본 연구는 모션그래픽에서 이미지의 시각화를 위한 재료와 요소로써의 물성과 오브제가 가지는 상징성과 조형성을 알아보기 위함이다. 먼저, 파운드 오브제, 데페이즈망과 아쌍블라쥬 등과 같은 오브제의 기본 개념 이해를 바탕으로 크게 네 가지 관점에서 물성과 오브제의 상징성과 조형성을 참고문헌과 선별된 작품의 분석을 통해서 살펴보았다. 첫째, 물성의 가시화와 시선의 주목성과의 관계이다. 물성의 의도적 가시화를 통한 미시, 거시적 관점의 선택 제시는 시선의 주목성을 높임과 동시에 이중적 형태와 의미를 함께 발생시킨다. 둘째, 오브제와 물성의 혼합이 가져오는 예측과 논리의 파괴는 정신적인 유머를 발생시키며 제3의 메시지와 스토리텔링을 만든다. 셋째, 재료로써 인식되는 물성의 변형은 형상의 정형화를 최소화시키고 재료자체의 물성을 극대화한다. 그러므로써 보는 이의 주관적 경험과 인식을 확장하게 한다. 마지막으로, 메타포 강화를 위한 강력한 시각적 도구로써의 물성과 오브제의 가치와 활용에 관한 것이다. 오브제는 자연적으로 만드는 우연적 효과로 인해 그 본래의 용도나 기능을 상실하면서 현실을 물질적으로 환원시킨 원초적인 상태가된다. 이때, 오브제는 하나의 기호가 될 수 있으며 은유를 강화하는 대상으로까지 개념적으로 확장된다고 할 수 있다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate figurative features and symbolism of materiality as a raw material and element for visualization of images in motion graphic design. For this, I took four different viewpoints to study figurative features and symbolism of materiality and object based on the understanding of notions such as found object, displacement, and assemblage through analyzing and theoretical considerations by selected films and reference. First, we consider the relation between the visualization of materiality and visual attention. Selective suggestion of micro and macro angles through intentional visualization of materiality raises the level of attention and makes a double form and meaning as well. Second, the destruction of prediction and logic, brought by the mix of object and materiality, creates psychological humor, the third message and storytelling. Third, the transformation of materiality, perceived as materials for works, minimizes the standardization of form and maximizes the materiality of a material itself. Hence, it extends subjective experience and perception of viewers. The final one is about the value and application of materiality and object as a powerful visual medium for strengthening metaphor. Due to the natural random effect, object loses its original use and function and becomes a raw state reduced from the reality in a material way. Then, object can be a symbol and conceptually extend to a tool for strengthening metaphor.
