본 논문은 엥교본(延慶本)『헤이케 모노가타리(平家物語)』에 나타나 있는 하치만 대보살(八幡大菩薩)의 양상을 미나모토노 요리토모(源.朝) 관련 기사를 중심으로 권(.)을 따라 고찰한 것이다. 엥교본『헤이케 모노가타리』안에서 요리토모에 관련된 하치만 대보살의 기사는 총 11곳에 나타나 있는데, 그중에서 하치만 대보살은 전쟁의 신(.の神),정이대장군(征夷大.軍)을 관장하는 신, 가장 먼저 배례하는 신, 「숙망(宿望)」의 성취신, 요리토모(겐지(源氏))의 수호신, 권력의 수호신, 겐지의 우지가미(氏神), 승진에 관여하는 신 등으로 실로 다양한 양상으로 나타나 있다. 그중에서도 특히 하치만 대보살은 요리토모의 정이대장군 취임과 정권장악에 있어서 직접나타나 무구(武具)인 「황금 투구(金ノ甲)」와「검(御.)」을 내리거나 또는 흰비둘기 깃털로 만들어진 부채의 형태나 노래를 부르거나 하여 전쟁의 신이나요리토모의 권력을 수호하는 신으로서 또는 겐지의 조상신이나 승진에 관여하는 신으로서 기능하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 엥교본과 같은 요미혼(.み本) 계통의 판본에 동국(東.) 기사가 많다는 점에서 하치만에 관해서도 겐지의 우지가미로서의 기사가 많은 것이 당연하다고 일컬어지고 있지만, 이 밖에도 하치만 대보살의 다양한 면모가 그려져 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그 중에서도 특히 「천황의 문책을 당한(蒙勅勘)」몸이면서도 「모반(謀反)」을 성취시켜 정이대장군의 자리에 이르게 한 요리토모의 수호신으로서의 역할에 초점이 맞춰져 있는 것이 특징이라고 할 수 있겠다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the aspects of Hachiman Great Bodhisattva(八幡大菩薩, Hachiman Daibosatsu) in Engyo Era Book(延慶本) “The Tale of the Heike(平家物語)” by Focusing on the story of Minamoto no Yoritomo(源 賴朝). The articles of Hachiman Great Bodhisattva concerned with Yoritomo is total 11 places in Engyo era book “The Heike Monogatari”, Hachiman Great Bodhisattva appears as really various ways with god of the war, god controlling Seii taishogun(征夷大將軍), god who primarily worship, god of accomplishment of “the long-cherished desire”, the guardian god of Yoritomo (Genji), a guardian god of the power, Ujigami (氏神) of Genji, god of promotion. It is natural that there are many descriptions of Hachiman as Ujigami(氏神) from many eastern country articles in the system of Yomihon(讀み本) such as the Engyo era book, but various aspects of Hachiman are pictured variously. And it is a characteristic that a focus is affected by the role as the guardian god of Yoritomo who resulted in the rank of Seii taishogun.
