小川洋子(1962~)は「揚羽蝶が壞れる時」(1988)で海燕賞を受賞、登壇した。以後、「妊娠カレンダ-」(1991)で芥川賞を受賞、『冷めない紅茶』(1990)、『餘白の愛』(1993)、『ホテル·アイリス』(1996),『博士が愛した數式』(2003)、『人質の朗讀會』(2011)など、創作の一方、飜譯やエッセイなも活發に發表している。『藥指の標本』(以下『藥指』)には小川がテ-マとしている記憶、境目、身體、人間關係などが描かれていながら、特に記憶に關わるものが際立っている。その記憶を不安と結び付け考察してみた。『藥指』の主人公「わたし」は21才になる女の人で、現在勤めている標本室に來るまでは淸凉飮料水の工場で動いていた。工場で仕事をしている時、左手の藥指の先の肉片が少し欠けてサイダ-タンクの中に落ちてゆく事件が起こる。この事故で記憶と不安が交差するようになってゆくと思うが、主人公は思ったより傷付いてないと述べている。ここで明確でないのは、この事件を受け止める主人公の態度と時点の問題である。サイダ-の中で搖らめいてた肉片が象徵するのは主人公のアイデンティティの欠如であるとも解釋できる。 標本室では標本技師の弟子丸氏の仕事仲間でうまくやってきたが、ここで動いてから一年が經ち、二人は疑似戀愛をするようになる。物を標本にする時、最初は自分の品物に不安を持っているけど、その不安を封じ入めるために標本があり、標本を必要としない人間なんていないという弟子丸の言葉が氣になり、主人公も自分の何かをもって標本にしたいと必死になる。弟子丸からもらった黑い靴はだんだんと主人公の足に食い入んできて足と靴の境目が曖昧になってくるし、それにつれ主人公は得たいの知れない不安に襲われる。それがために欠陷のある藥指の記憶が鮮明に浮かび上がり、不安がつのり、自分を丸ごと標本にしたいと强く願望するようになる。主人公自ら試驗管に閉じこもることによりサイダ-の中で搖らいでいた肉片と、これから標本になる自分が一つになることを願う。作家が意圖したように完璧な形で消失すること、つまり、純白で汚点のない狀態に태ろうと試みているのである。

The theme of The Ring Finger is the interest in memory, border, body and relationship such as Ogawa’s other works. Especially it has been researched about memory so this paper focused on considering the associated anxiety and memory. The main character, ‘I’, is a woman to be 21years old, working in sample room of specimen owned by Deshimaru. Before being here, ‘I’ had worked at the factory of manufacturing soft drinks. While ‘I’ was working at the factory, her ring finger in left hand was sandwiched between the machine and the fingertip was cut little bit. From this point it is considered that her memory and anxiety are intersected each other. ‘I’ think that is not so hurt, but it’s not clearly described her attitude for accepting the accident and temporal point into this novel. A piece of finger that was swaying in the cider tank can be interpreted as a lack of virginity or identity. Deshimaru is an eccentric scientist who specializes in preserving people’s personal mementos. Deshimaru and ‘I’ start dating. He said that everyone has the anxiety on goods(things to sample) of their own at first, so the specimen is required in order to block off their anxiety. And ‘I’ can not stand to find something to make her own specimen. ‘I’ got the black shoes from Deshimaru, and felt that boundary between the feet and shoes become ambiguous gradually. As this feeling reminds the ring finger in her left hand, ‘I’ get anxiety unfounded and would like to strongly desire to be a specimen ‘myself’. Accordingly, ‘I’ throw herself into a test tube so as a piece of finger in the cider and the rest of body became one. The main character disappears in perfect shape just as the writer Ogawa intended to. In other words, ‘I’ am trying to return to the state unblemished.
