텍스트 복잡도 연구는 학습자에게 적절한 텍스트를 선정하고자 하는 문제의식에서 착안하여 텍스트 복잡도의 여러 요인을 밝히고 이를 정확히 측정하여 교육의 체계화를 목표로 하고 있다. 이와 관련하여 2010년 이후의 텍스트 복잡도 연구물을 검토하여 이전의 이독성 연구에서 개선된 점과 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향을 살폈다. 또한 텍스트 복잡도를 실제 교수·학습과 관련지어 논의하기 위해서는 독자와 과제 요인에 주목하여 국어 교과서 텍스트의 복잡도를 텍스트 자체의 복잡도에서 더 나아가 ‘도입 텍스트, 본문 텍스트, 해설 텍스트, 과제(학습활동) 텍스트, 보충 텍스트’를 종합적으로 고려해야 한다는 점을 제안하였다. 그리고 실제로 동일한 텍스트가 서로 다른 여러 학년에 수록되는 현상의 대표적인 두 사례에 적용하여 비교 분석함으로써 텍스트 복잡도와 교과서의 관계를 설명하고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and explain the relations be-tween text complexity and tasks in textbooks. In order to conduct this research, we discussed preceding studies regarding text complexity and readability conducted recently, especially after 2010, and tried to suggest a new direction for researches on text complexity and types of texts in textbooks. We need to classify texts in textbooks such as ‘Introduction text’, ‘Main text’, ‘Explanation text’ and ‘Task text’ which have not been paid attention so far in discussing text complexity. This study also tried to explain the relations between text complexity and Task text by adapting and analyzing the same text which were included in Korean textbooks of middle and high school respectively.
