해양문학에 대한 논의는 관련된 거점 지역을 중심으로 지속적으로 전개되어 왔다. 하지만 그에 대한 일반화된 방법론이나 문학사가 정립된 단계는 아니다. 본고는 기존 해양문학 연구의 동향 속에서 상대적으로 주목되지 못한 강원영동권을 대상으로 해양시문학의 주요 양상과 경향을 논구하였다. 해양문학은 강원지역문학의 하위장르로서 주요 콘텐츠를 구성할 수 있다. 해당 지역의 지정학적 위치상 해양은 지리적, 사회적, 문화적 특성의 핵심 기제를 점유하고 있기 때문이다. 본고는 강원영동권 해양시문학의 정립기 양상과 현단계 대표적 사례를 일부 작고문인 및 류재만 시를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 우선 작고문인의 양상은 해양문학 장르나 범주를 구성할 만한 의도적 작품세계를 지니는 것은 아니다. 본고에서 예시한 김동명, 심연수, 최인희 등의 작품세계는 단편적으로 바다를 소재로 하고 있을 뿐이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 구체적인 삶의 경험을 바탕으로 하고 있으며, 전체 시세계와 시정신을 매개하는 주요한 문학적 인식소로서 바다가 존재하고 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 경향은 현단계 강원영동지역의 해양문학 양상에도 그대로 이어진다. 바다를 인접한 환경에서의 삶의 경험과 추억, 인생과 현재적 삶을 바다에 투영하는 방식 등은 강원영동지역 해양문학과 관련하여 주목되는 방식이다. 본고에서는 이를 실존적 배경이자 삶의 장소성으로서 바다, 서사적 사건의 공간성으로서 대양 등의 범주로 대별하였다. 김시래, 김영준 등의 사례도 있지만 이러한 입장과 범주에서 현단계 주목되는 작가는 류재만이다. 바다를 소재로 한 강원영동지역문학의 실정은 이곳 지역문학적 특성인 동시에 한국 해양문학의 흐름을 형성하는 일 요소로서 주목되어야 한다. 류재만과 같은 일부 작가들에 의해 강원영동지역의 고유한 해양문학 장르가 실천되고 있는 점은 남다른 의미를 지닌다.
The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the meaning of Gangwon-Yeongdong maritime literature. Especially, Jae-man Ryu`s maritime poetry is the main subject of this paper. It can be referred to as problematic objects who shared converging and diverging points in looking into and understanding the problems of the modernity reflected in poetry. This paper tries to apply the locality in broad sense to his poetic works based on the efforts to resist existence in various lights. Gangwon-Yeongdong maritime literature`s view of poetry is characterized by regional attitude. The meaning of region can be called the spirit of lyricism, and It`s poems are the typical showcase of regional literature. The good examples are poetic attributes as the spirit of the undetermined native place and sea. And Its sense of hometown and sea based on the culture of the ocean is a symbol of locality. The simple formality deriving from Gangwon-Yeongdong maritime literature`s lyricism is sometimes accompanied by the lack of aesthetic realms. Nonetheless, his spirit and works prove our centralized surroundings and the typical pattern of living in unreasonable modern times by performing effects.
