본 연구는 상담전공 대학원생들의 자기성장에 관한 경험과 그 본질적 주제를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 상담전공 대학원생이 참여한 집단상담 경험을 현상학적인 접근으로 분석하였다. 분석자료는 상담전공 대학원 수업에서 진행된 집단상담사례로, 8명의 대학원생이 참여한 10회기 비구조화 방식의 집단과정이 담긴 축어록이다. 분석결과 상담전공 대학원생들이 경험한 자기성장의 본질적 주제는 <나를 개방하고 직면할 수 있는 용기와 홀가분함>, <나와 타인을 수용할 수 있는 자신감>. <혼자 또는 혼자가 아닐 수 있는 자유로움>, <치유적 관계성을 체험함> <상담전문가가 되는 장거리 여정에 대한 기대감>의 다섯 가지 범주로 나타났다. 이 다섯 가지 범주에 해당되는 주제가 지향하는 자기성장의 의미는 첫째, ‘치유적 자기성찰’, 둘째, ‘진솔한 만남을 통한 인간관계 학습’, 셋째, ‘지식과 지혜를 아우르는 상담전문성’이었다. 이 연구결과를 바탕으로 상담전공 대학원생이 지향하는 성장의 의미를 깊이 있게 이해함으로써, 그들의 성장을 조력할 수 있는 상담교육적 방안에 대해서 논의하고 제언하였다. 본 연구는 상담전공 대학원생들의 집단상담 참여 경험에서 자기성장의 의미를 현상학적으로 탐색하였다는데 의의가 있다.

This study aims to analyze the experiences of self-growth and its essential themes of the graduate students majoring in counseling. To explore the essential themes of self-growth of those students, the group counseling process in which they participated was analyzed in phenomenological approach. Data for the analysis is the transcript of group counseling that was done during「group counseling」, which contains 10 session unstructured group counseling processes where eight graduate students took part. The results of the analysis revealed five categories of the essential themes of self-growth that the graduates of counseling major experienced, which are as follows: ‘Courage to open themselves and cope with anything and the following carefreeness’, ‘self-confidence to accept themselves and relationships with others’, ‘feeling free alone or together’, ‘experiencing healing relations’, and ‘expectation towards the long journey of being a counseling expert’. The meanings of these five self-growth themes are, first, ‘healing self-examination’, second, ‘learning human relations through true relations with others’, and lastly, ‘specialty in counseling with knowledge and wisdom’. Based on these results, various counseling training approaches were discussed and suggested to help their growth, while deeply understanding the meanings of growth they aim to. This study is significant as it phenomenologically explored the graduates` experiences of participating in group counseling in class and the meanings of self-growth they aim to accomplish.
