본 연구는 일반 성인 직장인을 대상으로 소명의식이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 살피고 이들 간의 관계에서 소명수행 의식, 삶의 의미, 일의 의미, 직업 만족의 매개변인으로서의 역할을 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울 및 수도권 지역에 거주하는 성인 직장인을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 총 150부를 배포하였고 최종적으로 128부의 자료를 분석 대상으로 하였다. 선행 연구 결과를 바탕으로 설정한 연구 모형과 경쟁 모형 2개를 비교 검증한 결과, 경쟁모형 2가 가장 적합한 모형으로 채택되었다. 이에 따르면 소명의식은 삶의 의미, 일의 의미, 소명수행 의식 모두에 직접적으로 영향을 미치고, 소명수행 의식과 일의 의미를 통해 직업 만족에 영향을 미쳤고, 궁극적으로 삶의 만족에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 이 밖에 소명의식은 삶의 의미를 통해서도 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 성인 직장인이 자신의 소명을 의식하고 이를 적극적으로 수행할 뿐 아니라 자신의 현재 일에 의미를 부여함으로써 직업 만족 수준을 높이고, 소명을 기반으로 삶의 의미를 구축함으로써 삶의 만족도를 높일 수 있음을 시사한다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 자신의 소명을 의식하고 적극적으로 삶과 일에 의미를 부여하고 소명수행 수준을 향상시키도록 하는 다양한 상담 전략의 모색과 이를 경험적으로 뒷받침할 수 있는 지속적인 연구의 필요성을 강조하였다.

The purpose of the present study was to test a multi-dimensional hypothetical model which the mediating role of living a calling, life meaning, work meaning and job satisfaction in the relation of perceiving a calling and life satisfaction among adult workers. The respondents were 128 male and female adult workers(out of 150) in Seoul and the Metropolitan area. In accordance with previous research structural equation model were examined the hypotheses. As the result, the second alternative model was selected. This study found that perceiving a calling was a significant predictor of work meaning, life meaning, living a calling. Also, perceiving a calling indirectly influenced on job satisfaction through living a calling, work meaning and ultimately influenced on life satisfaction through job satisfaction. And perceiving a calling indirectly influenced on life satisfaction through life meaning. These result have implication for working with adults who feel able to increase their perception and experience of living out a calling in the work domain so that enhanced job satisfaction, work meaning, life meaning and subsequent life satisfaction might result. The current finding provide important empirical contributions that might guide continued research and improved effective intervention strategy and future research on career and vocation counseling.
