본 연구는 중학교 절도 청소년이 어떻게 절도행동을 극복해가는 지에 관한 경험을 이해하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 절도죄로 인해 보호관찰, 수강명령 처분을 받거나 경찰서에서 사랑의 교실에 참여한 15세-16세의 중학교 절도 청소년 4명을 대상으로 절도 경험에 대한 면담을 토대로 근거이론방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 중학생의 절도행동 극복경험에서 나타난 중심현상은 불량친구와 노는 재미였고, 부모의 돌봄 부재와 견디기 힘든 학교생활이 인과적 조건으로 작용하였다. 맥락적 조건은 역기능 가족, 학교 유예, 건강하지 않는 또래애착 형성, 비행을 조장하는 외적환경, 범죄에 대한 지나친 관용, 충동적 욕구로 나타났다. 중재적 조건은 법적처분, 가족의 관심과 정서적지지, 인정 및 지지해주는 인물의 등장, 관심과 충고로 도와주는 친구로 나타났으며, 작용/상호작용 전략은 자신의 행동을 반성, 절도를 하지 않기로 결심, 적응적 행동 실행으로 나타났다. 결과는 복교 후 규칙적인 학교생활, 친구를 선도함, 적응에 만족, 진로/진학계획을 세움으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 중학교 절도 청소년의 절도행동을 하는 과정에서 절도행동을 극복하는 경험과 이에 영향을 미치는 조건들을 통합적으로 이해하는 데 도움을 주었다. 이에 절도행동에 대한 예방과 개입 방안이 논의되었고, 연구의 제한점과 후속 연구에 대한 제언이 제시되었다.

The purpose of this study was to understand experiences of overcoming theft behaviors of Middle School students. This study was conducted to interveiw 4 students who were ordered to join the counseling program instead legal punishment for theft. For this study, ground theory was used to generated their experiences on the overcoming theft behaviors. The results showed as follows: The core phenomenon of data was ``the fun of acting with juvenile delinquents``, and causal conditions were ``absence of caring of parents`` and ``difficulty for school life``. The context were ``dysfunctional family``, ``school moratorium``, relationship with unhealthy friend``, ``external condition to causing more juvenile delinquency``, and ``too much tolerance on crime``, ``impulsive desire``. The intervening conditions were ``legal actions``, ``concern and emotional support of family``, ``appearance of persons who recognize and support them``, and ``friends with concern and advice``. The identified actions/interactions were ``reflect on one`s conduct``, ``deciding on not stealing``, and ``doing adaptive actions``. The results were ``regular school life after readmission``, ``guiding friends``, ``satisfaction with adjustment``, and ``planning career/going on to the next stage``. The aforementioned results helped adolescent understand how to overcome thief behaviors and what is important factor of them. Finally, suggestions for the limitations of this study and ideas for further research are discussed and proposed.
