The aim of this study is to suggest the teaching method of "Transliteration using synonyms". This teaching method is for switchover from receptive vocabulary to productive vocabulary. The teaching method of "Transliteration using synonyms" is a activity changing words that a child used into another words. Consequently this activity improve the children`s productive vocabulary ability by raising the cohesion within the children`s network of synonyms. For the effectiveness verification of the teaching method, I applied this teaching method to middle school students. As a result, the average grade of the using words increased by "0.44 grade", and the result of "paired-sample t-test" was statistical significant(t=-4.24, p=.008, d=3.14).
