선행연구에서 육당 최남선은 ``겐지모노가타리``를 자세히 읽은 최초의 한국인 중 한 명으로 지적되어 왔다. 현암사에서 발간된 육당최남선전집에 실린 부립도 서관 강연원고의 번역문 ``日本文學에 있어서의 朝鮮의 모습``이 그 근거이다. 한 편, 필자는 최남선의 일본어 강연원고를 남산도서관에서 새로이 발견하였다. 그 결과, 막연하게 부립도서관에서라고만 알려져 있었던 그의 강연은 ``경성부립 도서관``, 즉, 식민지 조선에서 행하여졌음을 지적하는 바이다. 또한, 현암사 전집 의 주기에 적힌 강연날짜에 의문을 제기한다. 최남선이 강연 첫머리에 ``쓰레즈 레구사``를 인용한 점에서 가을이라는 계절이 제시되어 있고, 오사카부립도서관 자료 등을 검토한 결과, 도서관 주간은 통상 11월에 행해졌기 때문이다. 그리고 육당이 언급한 "일본의 어느 유명한 역사가"란 도쿄제국대학 교수를 역임하고 ``한국여행담``과 많은 조선관련장서를 남긴 하기노 요시유키임을 확인했다. 최 남선과 하기노박사의 지적교류에는 헤이안 시대와 겐지모노가타리가 공통의 관심이 되어 있었음을 덧붙인다.

Previous papers pointed out that Choi Nam-Sun (1890~1957) is one of the first scholars who had read closely and mentioned The Tale of Genji academically. The works of the researches are great in leading us to know the existence of Choi as a scholar in the field of comparative literature and culture. However, his original manuscript written in Japanese was not included in the two kinds of Choi`s complete collections published before. Newly, I found the Japanese manuscript of the lecture by Choi in Namsan library, so now we can specify the lecture was performed in the prefectural library of Kyeongseong (Seoul) when Korea was the colony of Japan in 1930s. Also, this paper supposes that the lecture might be occurred in November, not in February, such as the note of the first complete works of Choi`s published by Hyeonamsa. Because other historical records suggest us the ``reading week of library`` was set in the same days of November, not only inland of Japan, but also in the colony of Japan. Furthermore, I suggest that "a Japanese famous historian" referred to in Choi`s lecture may be Hagino Yoshiyuki (1860~1924) who had visited Kyeongseong several times and studied the culture of Chosen dynasty from the relation of Heian Period in Japan. From these analyses, we can learn the communication of knowledge between two scholars in East Asia.
