본고에서는 결혼이주여성들을 잠재적 청자로 설정하여 ‘시집살이’와 관련된 고전시가 작품들이 한국문화교육의 현장에서 유의미한 소재로 기능할 수 있음을 이야기하고자 하였다. 이는 결혼이주여성들에게 시집살이의 문제는 여전히 현재진행형이라는 점에서 시의적일 뿐만 아니라 시집살이라는 한국적 가족제도의 오래된 연원을 보여준 후 그들에게 이해와 동의의 일단을 구하는 데에도 적절하다고 판단되었기 때문이다. 이를 위해 2장에서는 한국문화교육의 현황을 비판적으로 검토하고, 이를 보완하기 위한 나름의 대안으로 ‘상호문화교육’을 제안하였다. 3장에서는 상호문화교육의 텍스트로 ‘시집살이’와 관련된 고전시가 작품들을 일별하고, 이를 통해 한국문화교육과 고전시가작품이 만날 수 있는 접점을 모색하였다.
