본 연구에서는 성폭력 피해 자녀를 돌보는 어머니들 중 과거 성폭력 피해 경험이 있는 어머니 9명의 고유한 경험을 개 념도 방법을 통해 분석하였다. 연구문제는 첫째, 성폭력 피해 자녀가 성폭력 피해자 지원 기관의 도움을 받는 과정을 지켜보면서 성폭력 유경험자인 어머니가 겪는 다양한 심리적 어려움의 탐색과, 둘째, 어머니의 과거 성폭력 피해 경험 이 성폭력 피해 자녀에게 미친 영향을 확인하는 것으로, 특히 어머니의 입장에서 심층적으로 이해하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 첫 번째 초점 질문인 성폭력 피해 자녀가 센터 지원을 받는 과정을 보면서 성폭력 유경험자로서 겪는 다양한 심리적 어려움에 관한 핵심문장은 99개로 정리되었으며, 개념도 분석 결과 ‘각성 수준의 고저(高底)’ 축과 ‘문제행동 방향 (내현화, 외현화)’축으로 이루어진 2차원이 도출되었고 군집은 총 3개로 분류되어 ‘외상 재 경험으로 인한 분노감과 심리적 고통’, ‘자녀를 보호하지 못했다는 괴로움’, ‘내 인생에 대한 회의감’으로 명명되었다. 두 번째 초점 질문인 어머니 의 성폭력 피해경험이 성폭력 피해 자녀에게 미친 영향에 관한 핵심문장은 67개로 정리되었으며, ‘인지 정서적 측면과 인지 행동적 측면’ 축과 ‘긍정적 영향과 부정적 영향’ 축의 2차원으로 구성되었다. 군집은 총 5개로 분류되어 ‘어머니의 자녀에 미친 영향에 대한 지각’, ‘아이의 마음에 관한 공감과 수용’, ‘적극적인 치료적 지원’, ‘미해결된 감정으로 인한 과잉반응’, ‘불안감 전이’로 명명되었다. 본 연구는 과거 성폭력 피해 경험이 있는 어머니들이 성폭력 피해 자녀를 돌보 는 과정에 경험하는 심리적 갈등과 그들의 욕구를 구체적으로 살펴보고, 어머니의 과거 성폭력 피해 경험이 성폭력 피 해 자녀에게 미치는 영향 요인을 참여자 중심의 관점에서 생생하게 밝혔다는데 의의가 있다. 연구 결과를 토대로 성폭력 피해 아동의 지원과정에서 어머니의 중요성에 대한 이해를 증진하고 과거 성폭력 피해 경험이 있는 어머니들의 상 담 실제에서의 개입 방향 수립 및 진단/평가 시 기초문항으로 활용하는 방안에 대해 제언하였다.

This study was conducted using a concept mapping method based on nine mothers who were sexually abused in the past while caring for their sexually-abused children. The study focused on unique psychological difficulties experienced by the mothers, such as observing their child undergo processes with the child support agency and concurrently dealing with the impact of their past experiences. In-depth analysis was conducted on the unique characteristics of themothers’ perspective. The mothers’ psychological difficulties while caring for their sexually-abused children were classified into 99 key sentences, and analysis results revealed two dimensions: (a) ‘high or low in arousal level’, and (b) ‘direction of problem behavior (internalizing and externalizing)’. The sentences were then divided into three clusters and named ‘anger to reexperience of th trauma and psychological pain’, ‘pain felt due to failure to protect children’, and ‘skepticism about my life’, respectively. The impact of the mothers’ past experiences on their children was summarized into 67 key sentences with two dimensions: (a) ‘cognitive emotional aspects and cognitive behavioral aspects’ and (b) ‘positive impact and negative impact’. The sentences were then divided into five clusters and named ‘mothers’ perception of the influence on the child``, ‘empathy and acceptance for the children’s feelings’, ‘active therapeutic support’, ‘overreaction from unresolved feelings’, and ‘anxiety transition’, respectively. This study focused on psychological difficulties of previously sexually-abused mothers while caring for their sexually-abused children, and showed that the mothers’ past experiences could affect the overcoming process of their sexually-abused children. The study findings suggest that an effective treatment not only emphasize the importance on the mothers’ past experiences, but also utilize the information effectively by applying it to the counseling process of their sexually-abused children.
