본 연구는 중국의 대표적인 기업가이며 민족자산계급 대표자인 대생방직공장의 장지안과 레노버 그룹의 창업자 류촨지의 생애와 경영활동을 통하여 중국의 기업가정신을 고찰하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 1978년 시작된 중국의 개혁·개방 정책이 30년을 넘는 동안 중국은 비약적인 경제발전을 통해 2011년 기준으로 미국에 이어 세계 2위 경제대국으로 성장하였다. 거시적인 국가경제의 발전과 함께 중국 기업들도 빠르게 발전하였으며, 미국 『포춘』지가 발표한 2012년 세계 500대 기업에 중국 기업이 모두 69개 기업이 포함되었다. 2000년과 비교하여 58개 기업이나 증가하였다. 서구 자본주의 국가에서의 기업가정신은 200년 전에 출현하여 발전하기 시작했지만, 중국의 기업가정신은 최근 들어 관심을 갖기 시작하고 있다. 따라서 중국 기업의 기업가정신의 의미는 더욱 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 기업가 및 기업가정신의 이론적 배경과 의미를 고찰하고 중국 기업의 근현대 시기에 대표적인 성공기업인 대생방직공장과 장지안 그리고 레노버 그룹과 창업자 류촨지의 사례를 통하여 중국 기업의 기업가정신의 발전 현황 및 문제점 그리고 중국 기업의 개선방안에 대하여 논의하고자 한다.
