본 연구는 외현적 자기애, 내현적 자기애, 공격성, 스마트폰 중독의 관계를 살펴보고, 외현적 자기애와 내현적 자기애가 스마트폰 중독에 미치는 영향을 확인하며, 공격성의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 진행되었다· 이를 위해 서울시에 거주하는 중학생 총 522명을 대상으로, 스마트폰 중독, 외현적 자기애, 내현적 자기애, 공격성 척도를 각각 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다· 연구의 주요결과에 따르면, 외현적 자기애, 내현적 자기애, 공격성 모두 스마트폰 중독에 유의미한 정적 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났으며, 외현적 자기애와 스마트폰 중독, 내현적 자기애와 스마트폰 중독 사이에서 공격성이 매개역할을 하는 것으로 확인되었다· 이러한 연구결과는 중학생의 외현적 자기애와 스마트폰 중독, 내현적 자기애와 스마트폰 중독에 있어 공격성이 영향을 미치는 중요한 변인임을 나타낸다· 이를 토대로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점에 관하여 논의하였다·

This study was designed to investigate the relationship between overt, covert narcissism, smart phone addiction, and aggression of middle school students and to examine how overt and covert narcissism have effects on smart phone addiction. Also this study explored weather aggression had any mediating impact on the relationship between overt, covert narcissism and smart phone addiction. For this research, 522 male and female middle school students living in Seoul were surveyed to collect data on the variables in question. The regression analysis indicates that overt, covert narcissism and aggression significantly influence smart phone addiction. Aggression has a positive mediating effect between overt narcissism and smart phone addiction and between covert narcissism and smart phone addiction. In conclusion, the study results demonstrated that aggression was a very important factor working between overt narcissism and smart phone addiction and between covert narcissism and smart phone addiction. Based on this study results, I discussed implications and limitations for further studies.
