이 논문에서는 ‘품사 통용’의 개념과 범위를 확인하고, 교과서의 탐구 활동과 방송 교재의 평가 문제 등을 분석하여 실제 교수·학습 현장에서 품사 통용이 어떻게 적용되고 있는지 살펴보았다. 품사 통용은 특정 품사에 속한 단어로서 가지는 문법적 성질을 한 단어가 둘 이상의 품사에 속하는 것처럼 함께 지니는 경우를 일컫는다. 품사 통용은 언어에 대해서 학습자의 탐구적 사고력을 신장시킬 수 있는 교육 내용이기는 하지만, 탐구 활동을 설계하거나 지식을 평가하기는 매우 까다롭고 난이도가 높은 지식 항목이다. 기존의 교과서나 문항을 분석해 보니 이론의 여지가 있거나 학습자 수준에 맞지 않게 난이도가 높은 요소들이 포함되어 있어 문법 교육 현장에서 혼란을 일으킨다. 품사 통용 교육을 개선하기 위해서는 국어 교육용 품사 통용어 목록을 선정하고 품사의 특성에 대한 교육적 합의를 이끌어내야 하며, 품사 통용을 유형화한 후 어문 규범 정보를 정비하여 품사 통용 교육과 연계해야 한다.
Word class conversion is adopted to the prescriptive grammar taught in schools and applied to the regular curriculum. In this study, its concept and scope is verified through a critical review of the previous works and its application in the field of education based on the analysis of inquiry activities of textbooks and the teaching materials in the broadcast. Word class conversion is the grammatical phenomenon in which the word is commonly used as a grammatical properties of more than one word class. Word class conversion is an effective and interesting item in grammar teaching for improving students` analytic thinking about the language. However, designing inquiry activities and the process of assessment is hardly handled. To improve the educational contents of word class conversion, firstly, we must select a list of class-conversional words above all. Secondly, the educational agreement on the features of word class is required. Finally, conversional words in word class must be typed by a variety of aspects. Finally, the types of conversional words should be involved in the information of dictionary.
