이 연구는 은유와 환유의 사고 구조를 통하여 시 창작 교육의 한 방법을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 시 창작 교육은 문학 교육에서 소외된 분야이며, 교육 현장에서는 주로 은유적 발상을 통해 접근되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제의식을 해결하고자 은유와 환유의 통합적 접근 방법을 모색하였다. 은유와 환유는 전통적인 수사학의 범주를 넘어 인간 정신의 기본 구조로 인식되고 있다. 시 창작 지도에서 은유만 강조할 경우, 학습자들은 시의 전체적 구조에서 시를 창작하기보다는 단어 혹은 문장 단위에서 사고에 집중할 우려가 있다. 하나의 시어가 은유적 특성을 띤다고 해도, 그것이 시 전체 구조 속에서 일정한 좌표를 갖지 않으면 아무런 효과가 없다. 환유는 은유적으로 선택된 단어들을 배열하는 데 관여하는 사고방식으로 시 창작자가 시 전체 구조를 상상하고 구성하도록 이끄는 원리가 될 수 있다. 은유와 환유는 상호 혼융되어 나타나기 때문에 효과적인 시 창작 교육을 위해 양자를 통합하여야 한다. 이와 같은 원리를 습작시의 창작 과정을 통하여 설명하고 실천 가능성을 탐색하였다.

The study aimed to explore a method for creative writing with integration of metaphor and metonymy in poetry education. Creating writing has been neglected field in poetry education. The metaphorical idea has also been a main approach. Therefore, in this study I examined a integration approaches for creative writing using metaphoric and metonymic structure. Metaphor and metonymy is beyond the scope of traditional rhetoric, but became the basic structure of the human spirit to be recognized. Paradigmatic and syntagmatic is a principle of structure of discourse. If learners only use metaphor writing a poem, they would focus on a word or a sentence. Even though a poetic diction gets metaphoric meaning, it would not be connected with other poetic dictions in a poem. A poem is a text in harmony with every single works there. Metonymy is involved in arranging the words when poetic is selecting thinking to imagine. Therefore it could be an originator which is configured the entire structure guided. Metaphor and metonymy co-occur when writers make build the meaning so they should be integrated for both in instruction. The principles when describing a poem could become a possibility of creative writing.
