본 연구는 HIV/AIDS 감염인들의 집단상담 참여경험의 특성과 의미를 이해하고 집단상담 참여를 활성하기 위한 이들의 요구를 이해하는 데 목적을 두었다. 집단상담 프로그램에 참여한 HIV/AIDS 감염인 17명을 대상으로 두 개의 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하였고, 수집된 자료는 질적 연구방법 중 개방적 부호화에 의해 분석·해석 되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들이 경험한 집단상담의 의미는 공감대 형성의 장, 배움과 성장을 가져온 자리라는 것이었으며, 둘째, 집단상담 참여를 방해하는 경험으로 ‘노출 및 죽음의 두려움’, ‘트라우마를 헤집는 아픔’, ‘깊어가는 우울’, ‘대인관계의 쓰라림’이 도출되었다. 셋째, 연구 참여자들은 집단이 지지와 치유, 공감과 즐거움의 공동체로 나아갈 때 집단 참여가 촉진될 것으로 보았다. 다음으로, 연구의 주요 결과를 선행연구에 비추어 논의, 해석하고 이를 바탕으로 감염인을 위한 집단상담의 활성화를 위한 제언을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 이에 관련된 추후 연구를 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the characteristics and meaning of group counseling participation experience of people living with HIV/AIDS, and their wants for promoting group counseling. The data collected by 2 focus group interview of 17 people living with HIV/AIDS who participated in group counseling program was analyzed and interpreted based on open coding of qualitative research methods. The results of this study are as follows. First, the meaning of the study participants experienced group counseling has the chapter of bond of empathy, taken place of learning and growth that were. Second, for people living with HIV/AIDS, barrier factors of group counseling participation ‘fear of exposure and death’, ‘head trauma pinching pain’, ‘deepening depression’, ‘bitterness of interpersonal relations’ Third, group participation were seen to be promoting, when they go into a community of empathy and enjoyment, support and healing. Next, the main results of the study discussed in light of previous research, interpretated and proposed suggestions for the activation of group counseling for people living with HIV/AIDS based on this. It was discussed implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up study.
