The purpose of this paper is to analyze current system for writing loanwords, especially Russian and Italian, and propose some suggestions. There have been many studies to raise problems of system for writing loanwords. One of them is to write voiceless plosives of all loanwords as aspirated ones in Korean, regardless of typological differences. It is well known that Russian and Italian belong to a [voice] language, whereas English belong to a [aspirated] language. Actually, Russian and Italian plosives are pronounced as Korean tense plosives, but English ones are pronounced as Korean aspirated. In spite of their difference, current system for writing loanwords does not show this difference. And current writing system for geminates is not sufficient to represent Italian geminates. In Italian, a lot of gemintes have their phonological position, phoneme. Writing system can`t represent its various geminates, except -mm-, -nn-. Writing system for loanwords must keep the rule of Korean writing system as well as show distinctive characteristic of origin words. So I propose two suggestions to revise current writing system. One is to introduce the principle that permits transcription of tense plosives for voiceless plosives in Russian and Italian. The other is to permit wide adaptation of geminates in writing system for Italians loanwords.
