본고는 남북의 원활한 의사소통을 준비하기 위하여 북한의 규범서와 소설을 대상으로 남북 높임법의 차이를 2가지 관점에서 분석하였다. 먼저 남북 사회의 변화로 인한 남북 높임법의 차이와 관련해서는 ‘하십시오체’의 청유형 형태, ‘하오체’의 사용 빈도, ‘해요체’에 대한 인식, 압존법의 차이, 북한에서만 높임의 기능을 갖는 어휘의 존재, 남한에서만 높임의 기능을 갖는 어휘의 존재 등에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 북한의 특수한 사회 체제로 인한 남북 높임법의 차이와 관련해서는 ‘하십시오체’의 특수 기능, 존칭 조사 ‘께서’의 용법, 존칭 접미사 ‘-님’의 용법, 높임의 선어말어미 ‘-시-’의 용법, 존칭 조사‘께’의 용법, 북한에서 사용역이 제한된 어휘의 존재, 북한에서는 명시적으로 규정한 낮추는 어휘의 존재 등에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The aim of this paper is to analysis the difference of honorific of South and North Korea in the grammatical aspect and lexical aspect using grammatic books and novel of North Korea. In regard to the difference of honorific of South and North Korea is caused by the change of South and North Korea society, there are honorific difference between South and North Korean language in the requesting form of ‘hasipsio-che’, usage frequency of ‘hao-che’, awareness of ‘haeyo-che’, the difference of Korean Honorific Restraint, vocabulary which have honorific function only in the North Korea, vocabulary which have honorific function only in the South Korea. And in regard to the difference of honorific of South and North Korea is caused by the special social structure of North Korea society, there are specialized-function ‘hasipsio-che’, usage of honorific particle ‘kkeseo’, usage of honorific suffix ‘-nim’, usage of honorific prefinal ending ‘-si-’, usage of honorific particle ‘kke’, vocabulary which register is restricted in the North Korea, vulgar vocabulary which is fixed by North Korea.
