본 연구는 어린이집 영아반의 전이시간이 실제로 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지를 질적인 연구방법으로 알아보고자하였다. 연구를 위하여 S시에 위치한 G어린이집에서 약 3개월간 만1세, 만2세 교실에서 참여관찰 및 동영상 촬영을 실시하였다. 자유놀이 전·후 이동할 때, 그룹시간을 시작하기 전 기다려야 할 때, 점심시간 전·후 전이활동 시간에 교사가 사용하는 전이시간, 전이신호, 전이전략에 초점을 맞추어 살펴보았다. 연구결과 전이시간에는 오랜 기다림과 줄서기, 전이신호로는 언어적 지시와 음악을 많이 사용하였으며 전이전략으로는 규칙부여하기, 개인별로 이름 불러주기 활동을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 교사는 전이활동을 미리계획하고, 정확하게 지시하여영아에게 기다림을 줄여주고, 다양한 전이전략을 사용하여 운영해야 함을 시사한다.

This research had a purpose to investigate through qualitative method how transition time in infant class of daycare center operated in practice. For this research a video was made in 1-year-old class and 2-year-old class in G daycare center of S city during 3 months. Transition time used by teachers was made when children move, when the children wait for their group activity, before and after of free activity time, and before and after of lunch time. The research focused on those situations and signal, strategy, time of transition used by teachers. The result of research insist that Long waiting time and group activities are used in transition time and Linguistic instructions and music are mainly used as transition signal. For the strategy of transition, Making rules and Calling name individually were used. In conclusion teachers have to define exact meaning of transition time and they also needed to get ability and knowledge about transition time. The research suggest that, for those requirements, training about transition time is necessary teachers in daycare center.
