그동안 작문연구와 교육의 장에서 고전산문 글쓰기에 대한 관심은 매우 미미하였다. 이는 그동안 작문교육을 둘러싼 담론이 필자, 텍스트, 사회적 맥락 가운데 쓰기 행위와 관련된 필자의 인지 작용에 초점을 맞춘요인이 크다. 글쓰기에서 텍스트가 지닌 위상을 고려하면 작문교육에서 모범 텍스트의 역할이 부각될 수밖에 없고, 이는 담론 공동체가 형성해온 고전산문 텍스트와 글쓰기 방식에 대한 이해의 필요성과 연결된다. 고전산문 글쓰기는 양식적 규범의 견고성을 통해 쓰기 지식을 제공할수 있다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 또한 대문장가로 칭해진 필자들은 양식적 규범과 표현 의도와의 긴장 관계 속에서 명문을 산출하였으며, 이는 현재의 학생들에게 쓰기에 도움을 주는 모범 텍스트로서 작용할 수있다. 또한 글쓰기의 본질을 둘러싼 언급들은 학생들에게 글쓰기의 가치와 태도를 성찰하게 만드는 계기를 제공해 준다. 작문교육에서 고전산문 글쓰기의 역할을 강화하는 것은 자국어 교육으로서의 문화성을 확대하는 의미가 있다. 즉 작문교육에서 텍스트는 일회적으로 소용되는 자료가 아닌 그 자체가 소중한 문화 자산이라는 의미를 지녀야 한다. 이러한 인식이 강화될 때 작문교육은 기능주의의 한계를 벗어나 글쓰기에 대한 인식의 지평을 확장해 나갈 수 있을 것이다.

In writing education there is little concern on classical prose writing. The focus of writing education has been the process of writing and cognition of writer. Considering the role of text in writing, we need to rethink the importance of text in writing education. In this point classical prose can provide model text for writing education. Classical prose writing has significance for providing writing knowledge through typical norms. The model text of classical prose can assist students to perform writing task. The reference to writing of famous writers of classical prose can offer opportunity of rethought on writing for students. It is meaningful to strengthen the role of classical prose writing in writing education. It can bring writing education cultural value. The text of classical prose has cultural value cumulated for long time. Learning this text in class, students can realize the importance of text and expand the prospect of writing cognition.
