이 논문의 목표는 『공간의 생산』의 ‘공간건축술’장을 독해하고, 르페브르의 공간 개념을 제시하는 것이다. 공간건축술은 삶을 바꾸기 위해서, 혹은 사회를 바꾸기 위해서 공간을 바꿔야 한다는 ‘공간적 선회’의 실천적 함축을 공간내재적인 근거들로 구축하는 작업이다. 그에 따르면 현재의 공간을 축조하는 원리는 생명체의 몸으로부터 공간 생산, 그리고 사회적 공간 생산이라는 두 차원의 상호 관계로구성된다. 르페브르는 두 차원을 매개하는 것이 몸이라고 주장한다. 그는 스피노자, 니체, 신체 현상학 등의 철학적 자원을 바탕으로 상대적 공간이 생명체의 몸으로부터 발생한다고 주장하는 한편, 개별적인 몸의 리듬과 원초적 몸짓으로부터 공간의 사회화 과정을 이끌어낸다. 이를 통해 르페브르는 변증법적인 공간 개념에 도달하며, 나아가 사물 생산에 경도된 사회적 생산의 의미를 공간적인 것으로 조정한다. 요컨대 르페브르는, 자연의 주도적 계기를 놓치지 않으면서, 역사법칙의 단선적이고 목적론적 진행을 조정할 권리원천을 변증법적인 공간에 부여한다. 변증법적 공간은 학문 영역 간 공간 인식의 벽을 무너뜨리고 우리의 공간적 관점이 끊임없이 갱신되도록 요구한다는 점에서, 사회적 공간 문제를 풀기 위한 유효한 지침이 될 수 있다.

The main purpose of this paper is to understand Lefebvre’s concept of space in ‘Spatial Architectonics’ of The Production of Space. Spatial Architectonics says the reason-in-space why we should change the space in order to reform the life or the society. It develops reciprocal relation between the space of nature and the space of society. According to Lefebvre the mediator of two dimension is the body and he thinks that the space is born in the body. This argument is based on Spinoza, Nietzsche, and Phenomenology of the body. Meanwhile, he suggests the process of socialization from rhythm and gesture of individual body. In this way, he reaches concept of dialectical space and substitutes production of goods with production of space. In conclusion, for Lefebvre, space has the right to regulate linear and teleological progression of history. However it doesn’t mean that he misses the initiative of nature. His dialectical theory of space breaks down walls between sections of academic studies and claims that we should continuously renew our spatial perspective. Therefore, Lefebvre’s theory of space can be an effective way to deal with spatial problems in social dimension.
