이 글의 목적은 자본주의를 넘어선 대안사회 - 맑스의 용법 따르면, 자유로운 개인들의 연합체에 의해 자본주의 생산양식이 폐지된 새로운 사회 -에서 문화의 의미와 기능이 어떻게 변화할지를 살피기 위해 자본주의 사회의 문화와 대안사회의 문화를 상호 비교할 수 있는 기준이 될 문화의 내포적의미를 정식화하는 데에 있다. 이런 의미를 정식화하는 절차는 다음과 같다: (1) 먼저 『정치경제학 비판 서문』에서 제시된 토대(노동)와 상부구조(문화)의 관계에 대한 맑스의 설명을 『자본론』과 『독일 이데올로기』의 관련 구절들을 통해서 재해석하고, (2) 레이먼드 윌리엄즈의 <자연적 성장의 육성>으로서의 문화라는 내포적 개념이 <인간과 자연의 신진대사의 합목적적 조절>로서의 맑스의 노동 개념과 어떻게 수렴 가능한지를 살펴본 후, (3) 앙드레고르의 <시간해방정책>과 마이클 앨버트의 <참여계획경제 모델>을 참조하여 대안사회에서 문화의 의미와 기능 변화의 방식을 <참여계획문화모델>로 제시해 보고자 한다.

The purpose of this article is to look for the change of meaning and function of culture and labor in the alternative society beyond capitalism? according to Marx’s usage, the new society where the capitalist mode of production had been abolished by association of free individuals - and to formulate a common connotative meaning of culture for comparison of cultures of capitalist society and alternative society. The process of formulating the connotative meaning of culture is as follows: (1) to re-interpret Max’s explanations of the relationship of the base (labor) and the superstructure (culture) stated in the preface of 『Zur Kritik der Politischen Oekonomie』 through illuminating the related passages of 『Das Kapital』 and 『Deutsche Ideologie』, (2) to find the possibility of convergence of Marx’s concept of labor as and Raymond Williams’s connotative concept of culture as , (3) to propose a to explain the ways of change of meaning and function of culture in the alternative society in reference to Andre Gorz’s and Michael Albert’s .
