국어(과)와 한문(과), 그 연대와 공존 방안
A Study on the Joint and Coexistence of Korean Language Education and Classical Chinese Education

한국어의 대부분은 漢字語이므로 語彙力을 향상시키려면 漢字를 알아야만 하고, 그러려면 한자와 한자어 교육은 반드시 필요하다. 아울러 漢文교육을 통해 讀解力을 길러 우리의 傳統文化를 繼承하고 발전시켜 나아가야 한다. 이를 위해서는 言語精神과 言語機能을 모두 중시여기는 분위기를 조성해 國語科와 漢文科가 相互補完함으로써 共存해 나아가야 할 方案을 제시하였다. 이를 위한 방안으로 첫째, 漢字가 國字임을 분명히 하는 語文敎育의 政策的轉 換을 통해 21세기 漢字文化圈의 동반자로서의 역할은 물론 한국어의 세계화를 이루어 國家競爭力을 강화해야 한다. 둘째, 敎育課程次元에서 초등학교부터 한자·한문 교육이 체계적으로 이루어져야 하며, 中等學校에서 한문 과목이 필수과목으로 지정되거나 국어과와의 통합으로 교육과정 안에 한자 및 한자어에 관한 항목을 명시해야 하며, ``古典과 漢文`` 과목을 설정해 한문 독해능력을 신장시킬 수 있어야 한다. 셋째, 言語敎授차원에서 한자, 한자어, 한문 교육을 하는 데 있어서 국어과의 道具性과 한문과의 正體性의 조화를 이루어야 하며, 국어과와 한문과의 연대와 공존으로 그 位相을 세워야 한다.

Given that most of the Korean words come from Chinese words, the knowledge of Chinese characters is necessary if students want to improve the ability of vocabulary. For this reason, it is inevitable to teach Chinese characters and Chinese words during the Korean language education and to cultivate the ability to read by learning Korean Classical Chinese and then, as a result, the Korean traditional culture also could be keeping successive and developed forward as well. In this context, this paper is intended to present a detail recommendation about creating an at- mosphere of taking both language spirit and language function seriously so that both two could complement each other, and then the coexistence of Korean language education and classical Chinese education should be developed accordingly. Firstly, the national competitiveness of globalizing Korean language, as the part of the Han-character Culture sphere of the 21st century, should be enhanced by means of switching the policies of the education of Korean language and literary in which Chinese characters specifically is the national script. The second suggestion about the education curriculum is that the education of Chinese characters and Korean classical Chinese should start from primary school. Meanwhile during the middle school and high school phase, Korean classical Chinese should be set up as required subject, or specified as a project of Chinese characters and Chinese words that is integrated into the Korean language education. Besides, the subject of Classics and Korean classical Chinese also should be set up in order to improve the ability to read. The third one is relative to language teaching. The vehicle of Korean language education and the subject identity should be match up each other when the education of Chinese characters and Chinese words and Korean Classical Chinese is conducted. Furthermore, Korean Language Education and Classical Chinese Education should be jointed and coexisted as one subject whose status of subject is necessary to be established.
