The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of peer-yoked contingencies on the emissions of verbal episode exchanged among peers. The participants attended to a public school which is located in South Korea. They were partially included into regular classrooms. A multi-element design was used to identify a potential relation between dependent and independent variables. The independent variable was the implementation of board game activities involving peer-yoked contingencies. The dependent variables were the numbers of the conversational units and sequelics emitted in four different non-instructional settings: Board Game 1 (Blue Marble®), and Board Game 2 (The Game of Life®), art, and book. During two different board game activities, the experimenters provided Blue Marble® and The Game of Life® board game materials for free play. The participants were potentially required to complete the games together (i.e., peer-yoked contingency). Results showed that the participants emitted significantly more verbal exchanges among peers in the board game settings comparing to art and book settings.
