최근 디자인 산업이 활성화되고 디자인 개발을 위한 방법론이 다양해지면서 그에 따른 다양한 프로세스들이 개발되었다. 더불어 다양한 프로젝트의 특성과 디자인 개발 목적을 고려한 프로세스가 개발되어 진다면 효율적인 프로젝트 관리가 가능해 질 것이다. 디자인 전문회사 측면에서는 고객기업을 위한 전략적인 디자인 컨설팅을 수행하기 위해 고객기업의 디자인 개발목적과 목표를 명확히 이해할 수 있는 논리적 근거로서의 툴이 부재한 상황이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 실무에서 활용되어질 디자인 개발 목적 모형을 구축하고자 문헌고찰을 통해 키워드를 추출한 후 해당 분야 전문가를 대상으로 동질성 분석을 시행하였다. 분석 결과, 디자인 컨설팅을 위한 디자인 개발 목적 유형은 4가지(BC, BM, PC, PM)로 분류되며, 각 분류유형에 따라 서로 다른 디자인 개발 프로세스가 존재한다고 할 수 있다. 연구되 어진 모형을 기반으로 고객기업의 디자인 개발 목적에 따른 프로세스를 활용하여 전략적인 디자인 컨설팅을 수행함으로써 개발 기간의 단축 및 효율적인 디자인 개발 프로세스 관리에 활용되어지기를 바란다.

Recently, various design processes have been developed by the invigoration of design industry and the diversification of methods for design development. However, it`s still difficult to perform successful management of design development project by not adapting appropriate design development process fulfilling various goals of design development. With the perspective of design firms, it is necessary to suggest logical tool clarifying the goals and purposes of design development to perform strategic design consulting for clients. In order to develop the classification model for goals of design development which can be applied in design development practice, this study first extracted keywords of design development goals by reviewing past researches and case studies of design firms, Then conducted homogeneity analysis with design professionals to categorize them in to similar types. This study results shows that there could be 4 categories for the purposes of design development and 4 different design processes can be used in each category. We suggest that the classification model of design development goals with appropriate processes according to each category can be used in strategic design consulting and leads to successful design consulting by reducing the time for design development and performing effective management for design development process.
