본고는 1930년대 구인회 시인들의 니체주의를 다룬 것이다. 구인회 동인지 시와 소설 에 게재된 김기림의 .제야.(除夜), 정지용의 .유선 애상.(流線哀傷), 이상의 .가외가전.(街外街傳) 등이 주요 대상이 되었 다. 이 작품들은 모두 ‘거리(街)의 문제’를 다루고 있다. 본고는 이 ‘거 리’에 대한 연구시각을 기존에 유행하던 벤야민의 ‘산책가’ 개념에서 니체의 ‘초인적 질주’ 개념으로 전환시켰다. 정지용의 .태극선.(太極 扇)에 나오는 ‘꿈 속의 아이’와 이상의 .차팔씨의 출발.(且8氏의 出發) 에 나오는 ‘且8氏’가 이러한 개념을 대표하는 니체적 주인공이다. 함께 실린 박태원의 소설 .방란장 주인.(성군(星群) 중의 하나)이 다 른 작품들을 분석하는데 중요한 실마리를 제공했다. 그 실마리는 니체 의 짜라투스트라는 이렇게 말했다 의 1부 .창조하는 자의 길. 장과 관련된 것이다. 거기서 ‘하나의 별’은 ‘스스로 굴러가는 수레바퀴’인 제 1운동의 초인적 기호였다. 말하자면 구인회 동인들의 사상적 탐색은 니체의 이 초인적 명제와 관련되는 것이었다. 본고는 동인들의 작품들을 상호 관련시키면서 어떻게 이 명제가 설 정되고 추구되었는지 밝혀내었다. 그 가운데서도 정지용의 .유선애상. 이 자신의 초기 작 .카페 프란스.의 주제를 획기적으로 상승 전환시킨 것에 주목했다. 그가 이 작품에서 예술적 모방의 길로부터 광기어린 파 열의 길로 나아가고, 그것을 예술적 창조의 길인 나비의 길을 통해 구 제(救濟)한 것이 돋보인다. 나는 이 광기어린 파열의 길이 이상의 초기 작인 .흥행물천사.와 밀접하게 관련된다고 생각한다. 정지용은 이 작 품을 보았을 가능성이 있고 어느 정도 참조했을 수도 있다. 이상은 .가외가전.에서 구인회의 어느 동인보다 가장 강렬한 니체 적 탈주를 보여주었다. 이 시의 ‘거리’ 풍경은 여러 공간들이 미묘하게 환상적으로 중첩되고, 기이하게 입체적으로 구성된 것이다. 그리고 자 신의 초기작 .LE URINE.에서 보여준 니체적 사유인 ‘역사를 뚫고 가 는 육체’의 여러 변형적 주제들을 이 작품에 불어넣었다.

This article explores the Nietzscheanism of the 1930’s Nine Members’ Society (Kuinhoe) poets. I examine three poems, such as Kim Kirim’s “New Year’s Eve” (Cheya), Chong Ji Yong’s “Sadness from Streamlined Shape” (Yusonaesang) and Yi Sang’s “The Story of a Street out of a Street” (Kaoegajon), all published in the magazine Poetry and Novel (1936). These three works thematize the poetic motif, ‘a street.’ This paper redirects the research perspective on explaining ‘a street’ from Walter Benjamin’s concept flaneur to Nietzsche’s concept of ‘the Ubermensch’s rapid running.’ ‘The child in a dream’ from Chong Jiyong’s Poem “Fan with Ying and Yang emblems” (Taegukson) and ‘Mr. Cha-Pal’ from Yi Sang’s poem “The Start of Mr. Cha-Pal” (Cha-pal-siui chulbal) are main Nietschean characters who represent the very concept of ‘the Ubermensch’s rapid running.’ Park Taewon’s short story “The Master of Cafe Bangranjang” (Bangranjang chuin) also listed in the same journal Poetry and Novel (1936) gives mea crucial clue to interpret these three poems all together. I gain this clue from my reading of the chapter, “The Way of the Creating One” from Thus Spake Zarathustra. ‘A star’ in the chapter indicates the Ubermensch of the first movement, “Wheels Running by Nature.” In other words, the Nine Members Society’s exploration of philosophical thoughts is deeply related to the Neitzschean Ubermensch thesis. This paper attempts to interrelate and interconnect Nine Members’ literary works and explain how the Neitzschean Ubermensch thesis is set and pursued with a specific aim by these members.
