Treatment of 4,6-O-protected D-glucal derivatives with azido boronate and molecular oxygen in THF afforded 4,6-protected β-D-mannopyranosyl azide. Transformation and probable mechanism of this azidohydroxylation method were discussed and the application of this methodology. We obtained β-D-mannopyranosyl azide and It``s structure was determined by 1 H-NMR and Xray crystallography
