This study analyzes an issue of attempt of salvation through women in Die Taube(1987), the novel written by Patrick Suskind(1949-). One of characteristics of Suskind`s literature is that all the heroes want to escape from their situations and in case of Jonathan, he wants to escape from the dove. In the novel, the dove symbolizes fear or sickness of life of Jonathan who has spent last 30 years without communicating with others. Jonathan has been happy with his life without communication. One day, suddenly he felt fear on the dove and left his home and approached to two women, because he wanted them to salvage him. However, his attitude to them is dual. At the same time, he wanted to be salvaged by them through delivering his imminent feeling to them and wanted to avoid contacting with them. Of course, there is no complete communication. As a result, he loses hope and decides to kill himself. But, the story concludes that Jonathan overcomes his fear on the dove and returns his daily life. Jonathan was abandoned by his parents when he was a child. Because of this trauma, he has avoided meeting and contacting with others and maintained his lonely life. In the novel, this is symbolized as trauma of thunder and lightening and Jonathan has lived avoiding confrontation with them for last 30 years. In the last, he overcomes fear on thunder and lightening and returns home. In this article, before facing his trauma, his process to escape from the dove through two women is analyzed.
