이 연구는 가사작품이 현대에 활용되는 모습과 활성화될 수 있는 방안에 대하여 기존 연구를 검토하여 나름의 의견을 개진한 것이다. 가사의 활용에 대한 연구들을 검토해보면, 문화콘텐츠로의 개발, 글쓰기교육, 한국어 교육, 한국 문화 교육, 문학치료 등에 가사를 활용하고 있다. 가사를 현재의 생활에 활용하거나 그 활성화의 경우도 쉽지 않은 상황에서 이러한 가사 문학이 현대에 활성화되고 그 전통이 미래에까지 이어지기 위해서는 전통이기 때문에 지켜야 된다는 당위성보다 그 속에서 현재의 우리에게 필요한 가치를 찾아 널리 공감을 얻어야 할 것이다. 그 한 방법이 바로 문화 콘텐츠로의 개발이다. 이 경우, 지역과 관련 있는 가사 작품만을 문화콘텐츠로 개발하기보다는 한 지역을 대상으로 기본 콘셉트를 잡아 문화콘텐츠로 개발하면서 그 일환으로 가사를 다루는 것이 바람직하다. 그런 면에서 ‘담양’의 경우는 현재 담양이 추구하는 가치와 전통으로 보아 자연과 인간의 교감, 자연과 (과학)문명, 전통과 현대의 공존, 예술과 놀이의 공존, 관람과 체험의 공존 등을 통해 몸과 마음을 힐링한다는 것을 기본 컨셉트로 하고 지역민들이 담양이라는 지역, 문화, 전통에 자긍심을 느끼면서 참여할 수 있는 기획이 필요하다. 또한 학문적으로 가사의 자료를 집적하고 그것에서 현재적 가치를 개발하는 작업을 꾸준히 하면서 실생활 속에서 손쉽게 가사 작품에 접근할 수 있게 하는 작업도 필요하다. 현재까지 교육 분야에서는 주로 글쓰기 교육, 창의력교육, 비판적 사고 교육 등에 가사 작품들을 활용하고 있는데, 교육에서도 문화콘텐츠와 관련된 에듀테인먼트로의 개발이 필요하며, 이러한 가사에 대한향유가 학교 교육에서 그치지 않고 그 이후에도 생활 속에서 지속될 수 있도록 하는 사회적 분위기 조성도 필요하다. 현대에 가사도 시조처럼 일정하게 그것을 향유하는 계층의 존재가 필요하니, 그것은 우리가 생활의 표현수단을 하나 더 갖는다는 점과 그것이 오랜 우리의 전통으로부터 나왔다는 자부심을 가질 수 있다는 점에 의의가 있다.
Based on a review of the relevant research, this paper presents an approach to the current usage and possible revitalizing ways of using Korean gasa(lyrics). A review of the research on gasa suggests its use for the development of cultural content, teaching of writing, learning of Korean language and culture, and literature therapy. For the gasa tradition to succeed in today`s world, it is necessary to find and show its value for contemporary society, rather than insist that it is our duty to keep the tradition. One of the ways to see its value is to develop it as a part of cultural contents. It is recommended that regional Gasa not be used simply as a subject of cultural education, but to develop the region as a basic concept and formulate the regional gasa a part of the cultural contents. In consideration of the values and traditions of Damyang, healing of mind and body need to be set as a basic concept in the communication between nature and people, as well as in the coexistence of nature with science, the past with the present, art with entertainment, and observation with experience. This consideration also requires that the local people be infused with pride in the region and its culture and traditions. The continued collecting of gasa and finding its current value as well as making it easy for local people to access this literature are all necessary. Currently, gasa is used mostly in teaching writing, creativity, and critical thought. However, it is necessary to develop it as a part of edutainment relating to cultural contents and to create a climate to keep works of gasa in reality, rather than restricting them to the classroom. As in the case of sijo, gasa needs a certain class of people today. Gasa also provides a significant, additional way of expression stemming from our traditional culture.
