이 글은 송순의 면앙정 구축 과정과 그 과정에서 산출된 시문들에 대해 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 <면앙정가>의 창작 시기를 알아본 것이다.송순은 1524년(32세)에 면앙정 터를 구입하였고, 1533년(41세)에 면앙정을 창축(創築)하였으며, 1552년(60세)에 면앙정을 중즙(重葺)하였다. 이 과정에서 여러 시문들을 창작하고 부탁하였는데 이것들은 창축 시기의 것과 중즙시기의 것으로 크게 나눌 수 있다. 면앙정을 창축한 후 송순은 한시 <면앙정>과 시조 <십년을 경영하여~>를 창작하였다. 그리고 소세양을 비롯한 여러 문인들에게 부탁하여 면앙정을 소재로 한 한시를 받았고 스스로 이에 차운(次韻)하는 시를 지었다. 면앙정 중즙 이후에는 가사 <면앙정가>와 이 작품의 핵심 지향을 압축한 삼언시(三言詩) 형태의 <면앙정가>를 지었다. 그리고 기대승, 김인후 등에게 부탁하여 <면앙정기>와 <면앙정삼십영>을 받았고 만년에는 임제에게 부탁하여 <면앙정부>를 받았다. 이상의 사실에서 창축 이후와 중즙 이후에 창작된 시문들이 뚜렷한 차이를 나타내는 것을 볼 수 있는데 이는 송순이 나름대로 구상하고 기획한 결과라는 것을 말해주는 것이다. 한편 면앙정 구축 과정과 이 과정에서 산출된 시문들을 자세히 검토하는 작업을 통해 <면앙정가>는 송순이 선산부사를 마치고 담양으로 돌아온 1555년(63세)부터 전주부윤으로 다시 출사한 1558년(66세) 사이에 창작되었음을 알게 되었다.

This study examined the building process of Myeonangjeong by Song Sun and the works of poetry and prose created in the process and estimated the creation time of Myeonangjeongga based on the results. Song Sun purchased a lot for Myeonangjeong in 1524(at the age of 32), founded it in 1533(at the age of 41), and reconstructed it in 1552(at the age of 60). In that process, he created many works of poetry and prose and asked others to create works, as well. Those works can be divided according to the foundation and reconstruction periods. After founding it, he created a Chinese poem titled Myeonangjeong and a Shijo titled I Worked For Ten Years~. He also asked many different literary figures including So Se-yang to create works on Myeonangjeong, received many Chinese poems about it from them, and created his own poems by borrowing rhymes from those works. After its reconstruction, he created a Gasa titled Myeonangjeongga and a Sameonshi titled Myeonangjeongga that compressed the core orientations of the Gasa. He also asked Gi Dae-seung, Kim In-hu, and others to create works on it and received Myeonangjeonggi and Myeonangjeongsamshipyeong from them. In his latter days, he asked the same favor of Im Je and received Myeonangjeongbu from him. There were clear differences in the works of poetry and prose created after its foundation and reconstruction, which means that it was the product of his conception and planning. The study closely reviewed the construction process of Myeonangjeong and the works of poetry and prose created in the process and found that he created Myeonangjeongga between 1555(at the age of 63) when he returned to Damyang after his service as Seonsanbusa and 1558(at the age of 66) when he went into government service as Jeonjubuyun again.
