혜심(慧諶)과 제기(齊己)는 승려이지만 시가창작에 뛰어났다. 혜심이 활동한 고려후기(高麗後期)와 제기가 활동한 당말오대(唐末五代)는 시기적으로 다르다. 그러나 이들이 모두 양국에서 승려(僧侶) 시가의 성행시기에 활동했다는 점과 모두 선종(禪宗)이 발전하기 시작하던 시기에 선승(禪僧)으로 시가를 창작했다는 점 그리고 모두 개인 시집을 가지고 있다는 점에서 비교고찰이 가능하다고 생각한다. 이들은 모두 선시(禪詩)의 정취(情趣)를 표현하는데 뛰어났다. 그러나 혜심의 선시는 제기의 선시에 비하여 불교(佛敎)적인 요소가 비교적 많다. 이들이 모두 다양한 인물들과 왕래하고 있지만, 혜심은 제기보다 훨씬 높은 사회적 지위를 가진 사람들과 왕래하고 있다. 이들은 비록 승려의 신분이지만 혼란한 현실을 반영하는 시가도 창작했다. 혜심은 나라와 백성을 걱정하는 심정을 주로 표현했지만, 제기는 주로 사회를 비판하는 시가를 창작했다.

Hye Sim and Qi Ji were monks, they were good in poetry. Hye Sim plays was very active during the late Kory. Dynasty, Qi Ji was a monk of the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. The time for their activities was different. However, their poetry were written during the period of the development of poetry in Korea and China. They played during the period of the development of Zen. Also, they had a book of personal poems. So, I think can compare the poetry of Hye Sim and Qi Ji. They have a good command on sentiment of zen poetry. But zen poetry of Hye Sim has a hugger effect of Zen than Qi Ji. They have a wide dealings with diverse persons while, Hye Sim has a higher level persons than Qi Ji. Hye Sim and Qi Ji were monks, but they wrote realistic poetry. Hye Sim mainly wrote a poetry of the patriotism to concern for the country and people. Qi Ji mainly wrote a poetry of social criticism.
