필자는 <재미있는 베트남 동물 이야기>를 번역, 출판을 하면서 베트남의 조류 기원담즉 조류의 전생담이 한국에 비해 매우 다양함을 알게 되었다. 따라서 이제까지 수집 보고된 문헌 설화가운데 인간이 조류화한 이야기로 한국의 7편, 베트남의 6편을 비교하게 되었다. 그 결과 한국인은 기층의식 속에 베트남인 보다 상대적으로 샤머니즘적 사고와 인간중심적인 사고가 강조되어 있었고, 유교의 영향을 받은 부권중심적인 기층문화적 요소 또한 두드러지게 나타나고 있었다. 베트남인의 기층의식 속에는 한국인 보다 상대적으로 애니미즘적 사고와 불교의 영향으로 인한 윤회사상과 인과응보의 사고가 강조되어 있었고, 모계중심적인 기층문화적 요소 또한 두드러지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

This study deals with folk tales which is explained the origin of birds among the tale of animal in Korea and Vietnam, and specially focus to the story transformed human to birds in seven tales of Korea and six of Vietnam. The conclusion is as follows. First, regarding frequency of birds appearance in folk tales, korean have strong impressions about sorts of birds such as crows recognized the death angels or evil sign, scops owls represented the emotion of deep resentment in mind of korean people, and cuckoos flying commonly around houses with crying. On the other hands, vietnamese recognizes diverse features of birds as the ordinary birds commonly seen from forests. Second, in terms of comparing sexual difference in characters, there are great gaps between korean tales and vietnamese ones in that female mostly turns into birds in korean while male transforms in vietnamese. That is, it could be considered reflection to the idea of predominance of men over women historically derived from a patriarchal society in Korea as well as relatively high status of women in Vietnam. Third, birds are recognized as the existence wandering heavens in Korea. On the other hands in Vietnam, birds are mostly seen atonement for sins of past life by punitive justice or completion one’s task which was not finished in past life yet Fourth, in Korea, there are many subjects importantly considered the issue of family relations caused from a patriarchal society while many subjects are highlighted private cultivation in Vietnam. Particularly, they similarly tends to take warning evil deeds, however they have differences on their subjects between stepmother``s misdeed in Korea and stepfather``s misdeed in Vietnam. Fifth, korean and vietnamese have similarity in that they can actually have supernatural powers as connotatively human transforms to birds themselves. In conclusion, korean have relatively focused on shamanistic thought and human-oriented considerations in consciousness of substratum rather than vietnamese, and remarkably represented infracultural elements of paternal authority influencedconfucianism. On the other hands, in consciousness of substratum of vietnamese, they have relatively focused on rebirth thoughts and punitive justice because of animism mentality and the influence of Buddhism, and highlighted infracultural elements of matriarchal authority centered on.
