본 논문은 한국 본글로벌 기업의 혁신 과정에서 활용 및 탐색 역량의 선행요인과 결과요인을 다음과 같이 살펴보고자 하였다. 첫째, 활용 및 탐색 역량은 국제기업가지향성(진취성, 위험감수성, 혁신성)에 어떻게 영향을 받는가, 둘째, 활용 및 탐색 역량이 혁신 결과로서 신상품차별화에 어떻게 영향을 미치는가에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 선행 연구를 바탕으로 본 논문은 192개의 한국 본글로벌 기업 데이터를 수집하여 경로 분석을 하였다. 그 결과, 국제기업가지향성 중 오직 진취성만이 활용 및 탐험 역량에 주요 선행요인으로써 정(+)적 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 활용 역량은 탐험 역량과 부(-)적 연관성을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 탐험 역량과 신상품차별화의 정(+)적 관련성은 지지되지 못하였으나, 활용 역량은 혁신 결과요인인 신상품차별화에 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 연구 결과의 토론, 함의, 제한 및 후속 연구의 방향성에 대해 제시하였다.

The study investigated the role of exploitative and explorative capabilities in the innovation process: 1) how exploitative and explorative capabilities are influenced by international entrepreneurial orientation (proactiveness, risk-taking, and innovativeness); and 2) how exploitative and explorative capabilities affect new product differentiation as the outcome of innovation. Building on the previous research, the study tested a research model using path analysis for the data collected from 192 Korean born globals. The results indicated that, among the three international entrepreneurial orientation variables, only proactiviness positively affected exploitative and explorative capabilities as a key antecedent. Exploitative capabilities were found to be negatively associated with explorative capabilities. While the positive relationship between explorative capabilities and new product differentiation was not supported, exploitative capabilities were revealed to positively influence an innovation outcome variable, new product differentiation. Discussion, implications, limitation, and future direction of this study were further suggested
