히토마로의 마쿠라고토바,「누바타마노(「黑玉之」)의 표기를 詩文과 비교 고찰해보니, 壽命을 늘리는 「仙藥」의 要素와 呪術的인 觀念을 가지는 呪具로서 特異한 瑞祥의 意味가 「玉」에 깃들어 있음을 추론할 수 있었다. 다음으로, 核心이 되는 「黑玉之」의 被枕詞로 수식되는 地名의「黑牛」와 緊密하게 連繁되어 修飾되고 읊어진 歌語임을 확인할 수 있겠다. 즉, 이러한 현상을 中國神話에 나오는 「靑牛(黑牛)」와 비교 고찰해보니, 祭祀에 있어서의 對象生物로 牛神(牛鬼)의 形象을 반영하고 있다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 이어서, 「黑玉」와 관련된 「묘姑射」의 전설을 조사해보니, 神仙이 사는 산 이름에도 옥의 의미가 부여되어 있듯이, 히토마로의 「黑玉」에도 같은 「玉」의 意味가 녹아져 歌語로 創作되게 되었음을 추론할 수가 있었다. 한편, 일부 만요의 「黑玉」과 關連하여 「烏玉(누바타마)」는 유리의 「黑玉」 그 자체라고 설명한 注驛書가 많이 보인다. 하지만, 被枕詞인「黑牛」본래의 의미와 강한 연관성을 고려해보면,「黑玉」가 諸注驛에서 주장하는 超現代的인 思考, 「범부채(檜扇)」라는 해석과는 동떨어진 운율로 노래되어지고 있다고 하는 것을 간파할 수 가 있을 것이다. 오히려, 「黑玉」에는 被枕詞가 나타내고 있는 地名과 密接한 關連을 가지고 있어, 마치 詩文에 있어서의 「碧玉」과도 같은 이미지로 特異한 瑞祥을 나타내고 자 한 不老長壽와 神仙思想을 강하게 표출한 詩想과 닮은 마쿠라고토바 (枕詞)라고 하는 것을 正論으로 제시하고자 하였다.

This paper examines peculiarly propitious meanings of Jade as a supernatural medicine for extending lifespan and a magical instrument with superstitious notion by comparing an ancient chinese poetry and the meaning of Black Jade, that is makurakotoba(pillow word) written by Hitomaro. In the light of being sung by closely modifying relation with himakurakotoba (modified pillow word) of Black Jade and name of place, I was able to infer from the Black Cow in a Chinese myth that the Black cow was a sacrificial offering and this one could be interpreted as an imagery of Taoist hermit’s riding. However, by making a reference to several annotation books about song words written by Hitomaro, I realized that a Black jade were interpreted as a Black Berry Lily Recurring Hitomaro’s song words made by influence of tradition of advanced cultural history reveals that there is a big difference with this song words semantically through utra-modern interpretation. By considering the Black(Green)Jade of makurakotoba used by Hitomaro closely related with the meaning of place’s name in himakurakoba, I can suggest that there are song words with a peculiarly auspicious meaning of perpetual youth thought and taoism.
