국어교육의 정체성과 역할에 대한 국어 교사의 인식 FGI 연구
A FGI of the Korean Language Teachers` Awareness on the Identity and the Role of Korean Language Education

This paper conducted a Focus Group Interview(FGI) with Korean language teachers in order to understand how they are aware of significance, necessity and goal of Korean language education. Further, this paper tried to review discussions on roles of Korean language subject in areas of field education where an identity of Korean language subject remains to be explained. A total of 6 FGIs was carried out with 40 teachers arranged by 6 separate groups. These teachers who have at least 5 years of field education experience were asked with questions: 1. why Korean language subject is necessary?; 2. what should be taught in Korean language education.?; 3. what abilities are required to be gained in current Korean language education? The study found out that practical approaches and standards are more important than academic or theoretical goals. The result of this study should be able to provide basic information to improve and clarify current characteristics and goals of Korean language education curriculum. And this paper would help to revitalize more discussions on objectives of Korean language education
