A Comparative Study of French Physical Education Curriculum: Seeking Revision under Constant Revision of National Curriculum

Revision of curriculum needs to be compensated with the comparison of not only past and current situation but also with comparison in other countries. The purpose of this study was to provide suggestions of physical education curriculum which were under the Constant Revision of National Curriculum through the investigation of French physical education curriculumwhich is operating a nation-level physical education curriculum. The results of this study showed that first, French physical education curriculum offered theme-based subjects in more strong level than Korea. Second, they provided mandatory events to acquire fundamental motor skills in line with a theme-based physical education curriculum. Third,sport club activities after school were more focused. Suggestions inrevision of curriculum included that first, in designing curriculum domain of Korean physical education curriculum, it was necessary to provide a systematic domain valid to appropriate subjects. Second, the way of presenting curriculum should be changed considering elementary and middle school curriculum. In specific, more detailed suggestions should be made for elementary school; however,curriculum with more diversity and specification need to be offered for middle school.
