Since sports expressed as a miniature of human society show the culture, which has been transmitted by the creation and development of human beings, the forms and contents of sports can vary according to their life style. While the interest in sports is getting high in accordance with the popularization as part of our life, sports are sometimes utilized for the purpose of a national and commercial propaganda which is far from the true meaning and value of sports, contributing to our society. Therefore, it is falsely seen that the value of sports is endowed only from economic and political aspects. Under this circumstance, there is a movement towards understanding the true value of sportsmanship. Sportsmanship has been evaluated from various angles from the ancient Greeks to the contemporary Olympics. It appears that contemporary sports became more strikingly instrumented politically and economically with the advent of the globalized era. In particular, media account for one part of showing this phenomenon, even though the essential roles of mass media are to transmit the change of the contemporary sportsmanship accurately with fairness and precision to the public and to make an issue of unethical matters or human rights. In addition, sportsmen should show an attitude of respecting others and doing their best on a fair footing. Sports should play a facilitating role in establishing right and desirable sportsmanship based on amateurism for the future sports.
