Purpose of this study is to analyze the status of speech communication field evaluation in communication ability of core competency evaluation and to draw improvement plans. To this end, it conducted a critical review on the NCS(National Competency Standards)-based core competency evaluation managed by the Ministry of Employment and Labor as well as on the status of core competency evaluation field managed by the Ministry of Education. On the basis of advanced researches related to theoretical background about listening and speaking evaluation and also about communication ability out of overseas core competency, it suggested following 5 improvement plans in speech communication field of core competency evaluation in South Korea; 1) application of detailed speech communication task linked to educational method; 2) defining the specific settings for communication schemes; 3) design of questions to which both task performing person and evaluation applicant agree; 4) development of integrated questions reflecting complex task status; and, 5) reflection of overall aspect of speech communication instead of simple information exchange.
