세계식량농업기구(UN FAO)의 세계중요농업유산(GIAHS)는 지역사회의 지속가능한 발전에 대한 열망과,환경과의 동반적응을 통해 생물다양성이 잘 유지되고 있는 토지이용체계와 생태경관으로 전 세계에 산재한 독창적인 농업문화, 인류 진화 시스템 및 생물 다양성을 보전하고, 이를 통해 지속가능한 농업을 달성할 수 있도록 통합적인 농촌개발 방식을 확산하기 위해 이 제도를 운영하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우리나라의 세계중요농업유산인 청산도 구들장 논과 제주 밭담 농업시스템에 대한 농업유산에 대한 우수한 문화를 통한 관광개발 잠재력을 조사하고자 한다. 청산도 구들장 논은 한국의 전통 주택난방기술인 온돌에서 사용하는 구들장의 구조를 적용하여 통수로와 조성기법이 독특하며, 제주도 밭담시스템은 제주의 토양조건과 기후환경에 적응하여 만들어진 중요한 농업유산이다. 두개의 농업유산에 대한 지속가능한 관광개발을 위해서는 다양한 자원가치를 미래세대에 전승시킬 전략과 교육, 관광,연구, 홍보마케팅 등의 다각적 활성화 방안이 실행되어야 할 것이다.

Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) are defined as “Remarkable land use systems and landscapes which are rich in globally significant biological diversity evolving from the co-adaptation of a community with its environment and its needs and aspirations for sustainable development. Throughout GIAHS, this system operates to diffuse the integrated rural development system so that achieve the sustainable agriculture. This study is to investigate to tourism development potential through the excellent culture for Korean GIAHS: Gudeuljangnon Terraced Rice Paddies and Jeju Batdam Agricultural System. Gudeuljangnon Terraced Rice Paddies used in the traditional Korean home-heating system called Ondol, was applied to build the irrigation system for the rice paddies. Jeju Batdam is one of agricultural systems, adapting Jeju Island’s soil condition & climate environments. For the sustainable tourism development to both heritage, We should practice the multidirectional activation such as strategy, education, tourism, research, and promotion marketing to transmit the various resource value for future generation.
