탄로가에 대한 이해가 늙음이라는 제재상의 공통점에만 주목한 결과, 작품군의 유형성과 특징, 그리고 개별 작품의 차이를 섬세하게 읽어내지 못하였다는 반성에서 이 연구는 출발한다. 일부 작품에 국한된 선행 연구의 제한성을 극복하고, 탄로가의 유형과 전통에 대한 새로운 탐색에 연구의 목적을 둔다. 이 연구에서 진술방식은 탄로가 작품을 분석하는 방법론적 도구가 된다. 탄로가가 인간 존재로서 어쩔 수 없는 상황을 타개하기 위한 언어적, 문학적 해결을 담고 있는 만큼 특별한 문학적 장치를 필요로 하는데, 인식, 대응, 정서의 진술방식이 바로 그것이다. 이러한 진술방식을 통해 주제론적 관심에서 인식, 대응, 정서의 국면으로 탄로가의 탐색을 전환하는 계기가 마련된다. 자연의 순환적 질서와의 대비와 그에 따른 반성적 인식은 세계와의 관계 속에서 늙음을 인지하고 받아들이는 구조에 해당한다. 또한, 시간의 경과를 거부하는 가상적인 대응은 주관적 정감의 토로를 억제하고 관조와 여유의 태도를 획득하는 효과를 가져다준다. 끝으로 외양 변화에 대한 대비적 진술과 그에 따른 정서의 표출은 인식 구조나 대응 장치가 약화된 채 늙음이 가져다주는 정서의 측면이 강조되는 모습을 보여준다. 이러한 탄로가의 세계는 17세기 이후 풍류, 유흥과 결합하는 변화를 겪게 되는데, 이로써 인식, 대응, 정서의 진술방식을 통해 확보되었던 비평적 거리가 약화되고 현재를 즐길 것으로 귀결되는 모습을 나타낸다.

As the understanding of Tanroga(嘆老歌) was focussed on only the common feature of topic, aging, we could not figure out characteristics of the group of works, and the differences in individual works subtlely. This study starts from the point. It aims at overcoming the limitation of previous research which was limited to some works and exploring novel ways about the tradition of Tanroga(嘆老歌). In this study, the method of statement is used as a methodological means of analyzing Tanroga(嘆老歌). Tanroga(嘆老歌) needs special literary devices as it includes linguistic and literary solutions to resolve circumstances beyond his or her control as a human being. The methods of statement are those of awareness, response and emotion. Through the methods, the exploration of Tanroga(嘆老歌) is changed from the attention about topic into the phase of awareness, response and emotion. The contrast against the circular order of nature, and consequential and reflective awareness come under the system in which people recognize and accept aging inside the relation with the world. Also, the imaginary correspondence which refuses the lapse brings about the effect to restrain exposing his emotion and acquire the attitudes of contemplation and composure. Lastly, contrasting statements about appearance changes, and exposing of emotion emphasize the perspective of emotion which aging causes with the system of cognition or the device of reaction weakened. This world of Tanroga(嘆老歌) goes through the changes to combine with pungryu and entertainment respectively after 17th century. With this, the critical distance which is secured through the methods of statement of awareness, response and emotion withers away and it ends with the motto to live for the moment.
