본 연구는 세계화 물결 속에 급격하게 증가하는 다문화사회에서 중학생이 지각하는 부모 양육태도와 자아존중감이 다문화 수용성에 미치는 영향과, 이들 세 변인들의 관계는 어떠한지 분석해 보는 것이다. 또한 이 과정에서 중학생 시기에 중요한 자아존중감이 다른 두 변인들 사이에서 매개역할을 하는지에 대해서도 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 중학교 학생 480명을 임의 표집하였으며, 수집되어진 자료는 SPSS 18.0을 이용하여 Pearson 상관분석, 단순 및 중다회귀분석, Baron & Kenny의 매개 적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 주요 분석결과 첫째, 중학생이 지각하는 부모 양육태도가 긍정적일수록 자아존중감과 다문화 수용성 전체 및 모든 하위요인들이 높았으며, 자아존중감이 높을수록 다문화 수용성 전체 및 모든 하위요인들이 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 자아존중감은 부 양육태도와 다문화 수용 성 전체 변인 및 하위변인인 다문화적 관계형성능력, 다문화적 인식, 다문화적 공감과의 관계에서 완전매개 역할을 하는 매개변수인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자아존중감은 모 양육태도와 하위변인인 다문화적 관계형성능력, 다문화적 인식, 다문화적 공감과의 관계에서는 완전매개 변수이며, 다문화 수용성 전체 변인과는 부분 매개변수인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 중학생들의 다문 화 수용성을 증진시킬 수 있는 교육 및 다양한 상담 개입 전략을 마련하는 기준을 제시하고, 나아 가 갈등 없는 다문화사회로의 효율적인 방안을 마련하는 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study analyzed an impact of parenting attitudes and self-esteem of middle school students on multicultural acceptability in the multicultural society that to sharply increase in the midst of globalization, and what the relationship of these three variables each other is. This also examined the mediating role of self-esteem that is important in the middle school years in the relationship between the other two factors. For these, a questionnaire survey was performed by random sampling of 480 middle school students from three middle schools in G city. With the collected data, Pearson correlation anlaysis, simple and multiple regression analysis, and Baron&Kenny``s mediating regression analysis were performed by utilizing the SPSS 18.0. The result of this study were as follows. First, the higher parenting attitudes middle school students perceive were, the higher self-esteem, multicultural acceptability and sub-factors of it were, and same as multicultural acceptability and all sub-factors of it were to the self-esteem. Second, the effect of father``s parenting attitude on multicultural acceptability and sub-factors such as multicultural relationship building skills, multicultural awareness and multicultural empathy was full-mediated by self-esteem. on the other hand, self-esteem showed partial mediating effect in the relationship between mother``s parenting attitude and multicultural acceptability and it showed full mediating effect in the relationship between mother``s parenting attitude and each sub-factor of multicultural acceptability. These results will be able to be utilized as basic data that provide a standard of checking multicultural acceptability by analyzing middle school students`` ability which understand and accept different cultures, furthermore, devise effective measures for the multicultural society which has no conflict.
